I am THE DOYEN of ‘Fast Dieting’.
I practiced it, extremely gainfully, from 1982 till about 1995. That was from when I was ~ 29 years old to when I was 42.
I went from 203 pounds to 135 pounds, within 6 months, then came back up to ~165 and stayed as such way into the 1990s.
This morning I heard about a new ‘Fast Diet’ craze sweeping the globe and was appalled to hear what it advocated. That approach is stupid and wrong. The consecutive days of fasting that they advocate will give you ulcers and make you ill.
Trust me. I know more about ‘fast dieting’ than anybody else around because I did it.
But ‘fasting’ cannot be successfully achieved without an exercise regime around it. Notice how I carefully worded that. The exercise, though obviously good on its own, is required for the HORMONES and CHEMICALS! Exercise, as you must know, is known to release chemicals and hormones into the blood stream. Those help suppress your appetite. Get it. Lots of sex helps too.
Here was my fasting diet cum exercise regime a year after I started (given that it took me a while to fine tune this regime).
Monday: FAST. One green apple & ~4 oz of cheese. 15 minutes of sit-ups, press-ups & touch-toes. 5-7 miles of jogging/running.
Tuesday: very light breakfast, light lunch & big dinner. No exercise. No running. Day off.
Wednesday: FAST. One green apple & ~4 oz of cheese. 15 minutes of sit-ups, press-ups & touch-toes. 5-7 miles of jogging/running.
Thursday: very light breakfast, light lunch & big dinner. No exercise. No running. Day off.
Friday: FAST. One green apple & ~4 oz of cheese. 15 minutes of sit-ups, press-ups & touch-toes. 5-7 miles of jogging/running.
Saturday: Splurge. Big British breakfast. Decent lunch. Decent dinner. 15 minutes of sit-ups, press-ups & touch-toes. 5-7 miles of jogging/running.
Sunday: Splurge. Big British breakfast. Decent lunch. Decent dinner. 15 minutes of sit-ups, press-ups & touch-toes. 5-7 miles of jogging/running.
No beer. As much coffee and wine as you want. Plenty of sex, as much as you can. Average one(+) orgasm a day, more the better. The orgasms are very important. As with the exercise they release beneficial hormones and it is always aerobic. With this diet you need as much help from your own hormones as you can to block out ‘feed me’ signals.
Yes, I went on saw specialists. I, very atypically, because I was working for ITT, had private health care insurance, called BUPA. I could go to see private consultants. I was urged to go and see one. It was in 1983. Much happened in 1983 — the year that I turned 30. It was a fancy, very plush health clinic.
They wanted an EKG. I had never had one. I was taken to a room and told to strip down to my underwear — which in my case would have been Y-front briefs. A nurse walks in with the electrodes and gel. Tells me to lie down. She is very young. Quite nice. I lie down. She brushes her hand over my chest. She starts chatting. Then she continues to stroke my chest and stomach. I am lying there thinking this is not bad. She stops talking. She is just stroking away. Suddenly she stops. She turns beet red. She looks at me and runs out of the room. She is back a few minutes later, apologizing and apologizing. I wasn’t even sure what the problem was. I was cool. I am always happy to help, especially young nurses. This more than anything else was affirmation for me that this fasting diet/exercise regime was sure paying dividends.
Anyway she did the EKG. I was fine. I met with the doctor.
This is what he said: ‘Think about. Our ancestors did not eat everyday. They ate when they caught food. You are not doing any harm to your system. Don’t go crazy. If it is working, do it’.
More about this diet later. I had no problems. I was never tired. Worked like a crazy man. I worked full-time and then was doing writing and seminars on the side. Played even harder. Got myself into a lot of ‘mischief’ — which was fun, but expensive. But maybe it was worth it.
The fasting diet as I spelled out above, WORKS. I can vouch for it. But you have to have all the other trimming around it.
