I wrote a monthly column for ‘Network World‘ for many, many years. Since we, as columnists, had sway over much of the industry, the editor of ‘Network World‘ would often send us reminders, via e-mails, of our duty first and foremost to ourselves as professional journalists, to our readers, to the industry and then to the Newspaper. Often, it would be just this one line from Mark Twain. I was not familiar with it prior to getting the first e-mail with it as the subject line.
I loved it, albeit next to my creed:
‘If you lose all your wealth, you have lost nothing at all. If you lose your health, you have lost something. If you lose your credibility, you have lost everything‘.
