I don’t get a chance to visit the local Gilman Library, or any other library for that matter, that often. I am invariably busy, whenever I can find some time  head down, writing. This afternoon I had an hour to ‘kill’ since I had to drop Devanee off at an afterschool activity and then pick her up in an hour. I don’t think it is worth driving back home because that way I spend ~25 just driving back and forth. So I decided to go get some gas for the SUV and then go to the library. I do like libraries. It is very soothing to be surrounded by books. Plus I like to browse through the magazines we don’t subscribe to at home, in particular ‘Popular Mechanics‘. So I walked in, and as ever started by rummaging through the ‘giveaway’ magazine box since I can invariably find a gem or two in there. It was in that box that I found ‘Mental Floss‘ — which we now get as one of my Christmas presents.

After I looked through the box, found a few old copies that I took for light reading, I straightened up. My eyes caught a familiar flash of yellow. I looked again. It was my ‘Pope Names‘ book on the library mantlepiece. I looked again, they had ‘The Next Pope 2011‘ also. On stands, stood up. Wow. I was surprised. That was nice of them. I did thank them and promised to drop off some of my newer books. I will have to visit more often.
