At the June 20, 2013 ACS School Board meeting we got to hear the detailed, blow-by-blow results of the in-depth, $5,600 (?) air quality inspection that was done on the school.
Bottom line was that there isn’t anything too unduly wrong. Some minor concerns with some ‘above “spec” carbon dioxide (not monoxide) and radon readings but nothing that could be construed as even marginally dangerous or untoward. Good news.
The inspection found that some maintenance issues left much to be desired — such as missing gutter downspouts and poorly maintained vents. The PowerPoint presentation had some great pictures.
As you can see on this video, I did get up and explicitly ask, and you can check the wording, that the ‘PowerPoint Presentation‘ be put online by the next day, i.e., Friday, June 21, 2013.
You will also see that I asked for a COMMITMENT on getting this done from the Superintendent, Mr. Lander, and that he gave me that commitment. Check the tape.
Well as far as I can see they put up this video but not the PowerPoint presentation. Concerned Alton residents need to see the Presentation. You can’t really see it on the video.

It also appears that the school already had a 3-year asbestos containment program — though this was never really disclosed prior to the ever so contentious $18 million school renovation bond.
Barbara Howard, who can always be relied upon to keep the School Board and Administration ‘honest’, got up and took them all to task on this. You can see it all, on the video, at around the 1:23:24 mark. She again questioned the credibility of the Board and Administration. This has now become a perennial issue. ‘Credibility’ is my guiding creed. Well … watch the tape.
That they reneged on their commitment, which can clearly be seen and heard on the tape, just compounds their credibility woes.
The 1:23 mark on the YouTube video when Mrs. Howard questions the credibility of the ACS School Board and Administration.
