Just when you start thinking that ‘The Hop‘ can’t possibly outdo what they have already achieved, e.g., ‘The Trocks‘ or ‘St. Matthew‘, they, effortlessly, transport you to another higher plateau.
This morning, by mail, I got the brochure for the 2013/2014 season. Now given that we are planning to go to this Thursday’s free Sneak Preview I was already somewhat familiar with what was on tap. Plus, I get regular e-mail updates.
Nonetheless I was blown away. Wow. Wow. Wow. So many great acts. So many famous performers.
I wish we had moved to the ‘Dartmouth’ area. I would live at ‘The Hop’.
But, I am so happy that we have this class of culture in New Hampshire.
Do yourself a huge favor. Call or e-mail ‘The Hop’ and ask for a brochure. It is a collectible. The kids love it. If you can get two, and the kids and use the other for images for their scrap books.
I had never heard of them but I looked them up last night. Seems pretty decent. Appears to have been around for a long time and winning awards a decade ago.
Impressive list of gigs.
They have a rather higgledy piggledy Web page which is very much a stream of consciousness with a jumble of unmatched fonts and colors — the embedded links buried among the spurious detritus. They really could do with an upgraded, semi-professional Website. I was also surprised that I could not find any ‘current’ video clips on YouTube. I eventually, having scrolled past it many times, eventually found some music clips on their Web page. They appear to do quite a few cover songs. I checked out ‘Chicken Fried’ since I am familiar with the Zak Brown original. They sound good. Authentic. A good structured Website with videos could do wonders for these guys — but given their apparent popularity they probably are doing just fine.
So this will be the 3rd concert this year. The last two, as chronicled in the above links, were good, one better than the other. The weather has been incredibly kind. So I am hoping we get three in a row. We plan to attend if we can. We have a few other things to do that day and it is going to be an early start for us.
But, I wanted to make sure that I gave you all a heads up on this upcoming event. Enjoy.
#118. I noticed to my intense chagrin that DirecTV does NOT provide me with ANY rating information on two movies that I recorded over the last 24 hours, one of them “Thomas Kinkade’s Christmas Cottage“. Absolutely nothing as to whether it is PG, R, XXX of whatever. Normally I don’t check or care about ratings because I other have a good ideas as to what they are supposed to be or because the movie is not for the kids. With these 2 movies, and the other has a title along the lines “A Dog For Christmas” I want to know whether the kids could watch them. Nothing. Nada. Yes, I can, and did, check the Kinkade movie using the Web. It is PG. But this is stupid. In general, compared to DISH, DirecTV’s ‘info’ leaves much to be desired.
#119. The Genie would NOT power up again. From the research I have done, all the indications are that my Genie is ready to die. If it dies before July 20 I could get a new one for free — I think since there is a grudging, petty 30 day warranty. I hope it dies soon.
