Though we have decided that we will not attend this year, after 14 years, I was still curious who the featured pipe band will be this year, i.e., 2013. Last year it was the ‘Carnegie Mellon University Pipes & Drums’ who proved to be very pleasing.

I called them, i.e., NHScots, to find out the information. The featured band for 2013 is a subset, i.e., mini-band, of the ‘Royal Canadian Mounted Police Pipes, Drums & Dancers: National Capital Region‘. They are no strangers to the Games. We have seen them. They were there last year or year before. They are fun.

I think it is a volunteer band with non-RCMP members as well.

I cannot find their grade. Last year we were given a list of the participating bands and their grades. I cannot find a similar list this year. I also did a cursory Web search. Nothing.

Doesn’t matter. They will entertain.

I just miss the professional, service bands from the Motherland as was the case when I first started going to the Games in the late 1990s.
