Today was a beautiful day, a bit windy but nothing to write home about.
Then just around 4 pm the lights flicker, go off, come back on again and then go off. I have a good UPS so all I hear are the clicks.
The power was off for about 75 minutes.
We called PSNH about 20 minutes after we lost power. They were NOT aware of an outage.
I am totally and utterly convinced that PSNH just throws a switch, on beautiful days like this, just to keep us 150 poor suckers in Alton, at the very end of their line, on our toes and beholden to the mighty power Gods at PSNH.
Yes, Friday afternoon. I have vision of an inebriated Homer Simpson like scenario. Hiccuping PSNH operator, after a liquid lunch, sitting legs spread wide, at his station, another PSNH bimbo on his lap, and he goes: ‘Hic, let me show you something. If I press this button I can turn off the power to Alton’. Disprove me.
It is the ultimate power trip.
IF I could get away from PSNH I would jump at it.
