I have NEVER believed in the ‘Peter the Roman‘ malarkey!

I have, in my books and blogs, done more to discredit it than most.

So, I was delighted that this pope was not a ‘Peter’ and didn’t take a name that even came close to ‘Peter’.

But, at the same time, though I really do like this pope, I have had, from day 2, a feeling of ‘unease’ about him.

Something about him bothers me — though, as a non-Catholic, I can, of course, be totally detached.

Now … this.

This bishop actually uses the word ‘antichrist’.

Peter the Roman!
