TDS is OK. When it comes to coddling customers, good customers, they are NOT Fidelity, Bank of America or Discover — though, ironically, their people TRY real hard to be nice. It is that it is a very distant, cold and aloof corporation. That said, of late, they deliver what they promise. So they are OK — not that I have any choice.
I do have to hand it to them that they do TRY (at least of late (and that I mean in the last 12 months)) to be nice to their customers. That is good. Their REWARDS program where you get a $20 Amazon or Walmart gift card for every $1,000 you spend with them is nice. I rack up $1,000 with them every 4.5 months! So I have had 3 or 4 gift cards from them already. I bought my latest Asus Android PAD using a $20 Walmart gift card from them a few weeks ago.
They have now started offering this ‘extra-special’ discount program with TigerDirect.
That is good. I applaud them for that.
I like TigerDirect and have bought a LOT of stuff from them — though, I now realize, that I haven’t bought anything from them in the last 6 months, buying electronics instead from Amazon, Walmart and Newegg. Hhhhmmm. I have actually bought quite a bit of electronics in the last 6 weeks — and none of it from TigerDirect. I have to see why. I get at least 2 e-mails a day from TigerDirect with their special offers and I do eyeball them. I now might have to go and buy something from TigerDirect to try out the TDS code and just to assuage my conscience for not shopping with them. I like to be loyal to the retailers I like and TigerDirect is definitely in my ‘I Like‘ column.

Though viscerally I find it hard to agree with anything that DirecTV says or does, given the boatloads of unmitigated abuse I had had from them, I do have to say, albeit very grudgingly, I have no problem, whatsoever, of them getting rid of ‘The Weather Channel‘. I will even say Bravo (and I am not referring to the channel).
To me, ‘The Weather Channel’ is a total waste of time — though to be fair I really never watch it! If I want weather on TV I go to a local station, even one in Boston. To say that ‘The Weather Channel’ shows local weather around the clock is a fallacy. They have so much useless crud that it is impossible to actually ever get what you want — in my opinion. I don’t even know what channel it is on! That alone tells me that I have no use for it. With the channels that I watch: CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, DISC, SCI, TLC, DEST, BBCA, HIST, HIST2 etc. etc. I know either the exact channel number or what range I can find it within, e.g., in the high 200s or middle 300s. No clue with ‘The Weather Channel’. So, I say: GRBR.
As DirecTV points out there are better resources. WMUR does have an APP and I do have it on my pad — and even used it for the first time yesterday, though without luck, to see how much snow accumulation we were supposed to get from the MLK weekend storm. So, I have no problem with DirecTV getting rid of those useless bums — and this will probably be the ONLY time I will agree with anything that DirecTV does.

Slightly more snow than WMUR led us to believe — even with me automatically adding 2″ more to compensate for our higher, 660′, elevation.
Not heavy, but sticky. Hard to shovel. That said I spent 70 minutes shoveling. Entire drive is shoveled. Didn’t bother with the mailbox. No mail tomorrow. I will shovel it out Tuesday morning.
It is very pretty out here. All the trees have a coating of snow a couple inches deep. But, grey, miserable sky. No sun. WMUR is also wrong, so far, about the temperature getting up above 32ºF. At 11:30 am the thermometer in my bathroom with a wireless link to an outside sensor on the deck was reading 28ºF. I want the temp. to rise so the snow on the DirecTV dish will slide off. Yes, I can get out of there and brush it off with my snow shovel, but I would rather not because I haven’t put it together as yet, this year.

It was fun to be out shoveling. I can’t imagine not being able to or not wanting to shovel. I find shoveling very soothing and satisfying. Having the two dogs froliking around and Teischan playing in the snow adds to the general feeling of bonhomie.
