liar_liar_pants_on_fireI just got scammed and scammed bad, albeit for $14.99, by Cisco, or to be precise Linksys.

They lied to me, 3 times, on a recorded line and then scammed me — and even worse REFUSED to refund the $14.99 they scammed from me.

Kind of sad. I have done a lot of consulting work for Cisco. I have met John Mogridge and once got a letter from him c. 1997 thanking me for all my service to Cisco. Chambers knew me and we have spoken a number of times. Don Listwin, their legendary SVP of Marketing wrote a Foreword for one of my books. I still have, an expired, Cisco badge and I have even had and exercised Cisco employee stock options. So to be scammed by Cisco hurts a bit. Like being scammed by family (and a few that know me will be sniggering by now).

My Cisco Linksys RE-1000 Wireless-N Range Extender (that I bough refurbished from Amazon last August) finally died. It used to drop the Wi-Fi connection on a regular basis but I was always able to ‘refresh’ it just by cycling power. Well that stopped working last night. Just could not get a steady blue light. Today I tried to use the CD and then an Ethernet connection to reset it — and yes, yes, I hit the reset button etc.

I then called this 877-959-7467 number and gave them my serial number. Told me that I was out of warranty. That was true. Only had 90 days as far as I recall.

He tried to help me but eventually said that my RE-1000 was FRIED — most likely during a power failure.

My option was to buy another one. I decided to upgrade. Said I would buy an RE-2000 for $79.xx. More expensive than from Amazon BUT I was willing to give him my business. I am like that.

He then said that I can have a full year of FULL, telephone support for ALL my Linksys products, including the Linksys EA3500 I already have for $5. Yes. $5.

I got him to confirm that TWICE — on a recorded line.

He confirmed $5.

When my invoice came he had charged me $19.99 for it.

Yes, $19.99.

He confirmed $5 twice, on a recorded line and I asked him again, indirectly, a 3rd time at the end of the call.

He lied. Liar, liar pants on fire.

I called back. I was kept on hold, twice, for a total of 40 minutes.

They said that they made a mistake. $5 was IF I had bought a router. I hadn’t. RE-2000 a range extender.

$19.99 for non-routers. They will NOT give me the $14.99 difference.

Liar, liar pants on fire.

I can either cancel the whole order or live with it.

Liar, liar pants on fire.

It must be hard times at Cisco.

Doesn’t matter. After 12 years I am yet again a Cisco stockholder. I don’t have the 10,000 I once had through stock options but I have more than 100. I use it to write options. So I will get this money back.

But, a HEADS UP.

Linksys sales will LIE to YOU.

Liar, liar pants on fire.

IF somebody wants to check here is my linksys order number, placed today, around 4pm Eastern: 29678575.

April 15, 2014,

‘Blood Red‘ Moon Lunar Eclipse — the first in the so called
tetrad‘, of lunar eclipses over the next eighteen months:
October 8, 2014April 4, 2015 (Danielle’s birthday)
and September 28, 2015.

Well here is the official NASA Chart for the October 8, 2014 lunar eclipse.

Well given we are in the U3 region — it looks promising, right?

The eclipse around U3, as you can see from the ‘Eclipse Contacts’ table at ‘top right’ above map,
occurs at 11:24:00 UT(C) [i.e., good ol’ GMT].

On October 8, 2014 we will be -4 hours from UTC [GMT].

That puts us at 7:24 AM!

As it clearly states on the map — Eclipse at MoonSet.

We might see some. But the moon will be very low in the sky too
— and we in New Hampshire have a few trees.

So just a heads up.

I don’t think it is promising.
West Coast again will get perfect viewing conditions!

South Korea, With The Sunken Ferry TRAGEDY, Vying With Malaysia In The Asian Stupidity Rankings.

Trust me, it has never been easy to be an Asian.

Some of us have aspired, much of our life, to dispel some of the stereotyping. So, it makes me hopping mad when I see Asians making fools of themselves on a regular basis as has become the norm with the bloody Malaysians and the unfortunate and confounding Malaysian Air MH370 disappearance. Fortunately now much of the world has finally got around to realizing what I started saying much, much earlier. The Malaysians are clueless. This MH370 event is way outside of capacity of their intellectual envelope. I felt bad for them for a few days. Not anymore. I, like the families of the survivors, have nothing but total contempt for their incompetence, duplicity and arrogance.

Now we get this ferry tragedy. The poor kids. The poor parents. Bloody captain, like his cowardly Italian counterpart, scurries off the sinking ship. Somebody should have pushed him back in the water and told him to get the hell back on — as the Italian coward was told.

At least with the Koreans I had worked out, conclusively, last year that they are stupid. Why? Lying about KIA & Hyundai mileage — and then trying to divert payments from customers like us … They had to be stupid to think that they could have got away with that. Yes, they could have pulled such duplicity off in Malaysia BUT not here.

And now this. Telling the kids to stay in the sinking ferry! That is criminal.

I still don’t see them cutting any holes in the hull. Yes, I know they still have some access from the other side — but for expediency, they should also cut holes on the hull. Time is of the essence. The whole rescue effort looks like a comedy of errors.

IF they ferry, with that many people, that close to shore, sank off New England, how many people do you think would still be trapped inside? We would have got them out.

ONLY ONE (1) LIFEBOAT LAUNCHED. What is this Titanic — the bloody Korean sequel?

I am so fed up with Asians acting stupid. Please. Can we try and engage some grey matter.

Sorry for the RANT. But, I have to continue living as an Asian till I die.

sksunkenferryCome on, this is as plausible as all of the other idiocies being bandied around. I don’t follow Australian politics that much, but I do know that at least one previous Australian Prime Minister has been seen, maybe even photographed in public, with his pants down. Well, I think the current P.M., the Abbott of Australia, may soon end up in that same predicament.

I as ever checked the facts. The channel in which the ferry sank (and it is a unmitigated tragedy, especially given all the poor children involved) has an average depth of 150′. While it could have strayed outside of the channel, hit some rocks and got back in the channel — the timing of when the heard the loud BANG and when it started sinking kind of limits that possibility. So the more plausible theory is that it hit something that was in the channel — that wasn’t supposed to be there. Of course, MH370. Well, well, well, within its range.

Plus check the stats for a Boeing 777. Plenty big enough for a part to be projecting close to the surface IF it went down in just 150′ of water. It could be at an angle, embedded in the silt at the bottom.

That is my theory.

PERFECT for CNN. Now they can morph the two stories together and cover them as one — inanely.

As a parent my heart does go out to the parents. This is OUR worst nightmare. I do have something more to say in another post — shortly. I share their grief.
