As anybody who reads this blog knows, and must be very painfully aware, English is my Second Language (ESL) and I struggle and suffer trying to come to grips with it on a daily basis.
I tried going to English as a Second Language classes but that didn’t work out too well because I get easily distracted.
I came across this today, in our local paper, and it gave me pause.
It was just like the use of ‘portend‘. Just didn’t make sense to me. But, I can’t really explain to you how I struggle with this English.
Just doesn’t seem to read right (or is it ‘write’) to me BUT my English is too poor for me to be able to put my finger on it:
I even posted it at my favorite ESL Forum ….
I checked with a fellow author. Native American from Connecticut. He helps me a lot with my editing.
He sent me this … and then followed up with 4 e-mails about ADVERBS! Adverbs?
In an ideal world I should get my Superintendent or Principal to help me out but that won’t happen.
