He made these comments, on the plane, on his way back from South Korea. He, obviously, did so BEFORE the news of the horrific, fatal crash involving his nephew in Argentina. I am going to leave that at that.
Quite a set of statements. Confirms a belief that I have now had for about a year that this pope LOVES to be provocative. Well this is the ultimate in that.
I really hope he doesn’t resign. That will NOT be good for the Catholic Church. Two popes in succession resigning and soon we will have TERM LIMITS on the papacy.
We hadn’t had a pope resign in 597 years prior to Benedict. Lets NOT even think about two in succession. That would be so wrong.
I think this pope does have some health issues — more than what he is letting on.
So, the BIG question for ME is whether I should start working on “The Next Pope” redux.
Yes, I did do a “Next Pope After Francis” papabili list 11 months ago!
Working on “The Next Pope 2014” wasn’t on my cards. In my mind I have got the remainder of 2014 mapped out in terms of my research and books. Right now working on getting my latest Pope book published. It is written BUT Deanna and others are proofing it. Then last night I had an idea. I can actually sneak in a book about the “College of Cardinals” while the Pope book is being proofed. This morning at 1:30 am I was busy looking for a cover picture for that book. Then per the master plan I was done with popes for the foreseeable future.
Hmmmm. Dilema. Yes, of course, I don’t have to do anything. Others can carry the flame. But, here is what I need to sort out — “The Next Pope” is my thing. People now associate that ‘phrase’ with me.
Well the joys of life. In the scheme of things not a big problem — actually a ‘nice’ problem to deal with.
My first thoughts as to the criteria for the Next Pope. No EXOTICS. This pope has scared to the College enough. We can forget another Religious. So there goes Marc Ouellet. Actually Marc was already done for. I think we will be back to a safe European pope. Maybe even Italian. Something to think about on my runs this week.
