In the 2nd column, line 10, Lynda, who is a good writer, says, categorically “a one-man-show“.

That could be a figure of speech or it could be a pointed reference to ‘ONE MAN‘. Wonder which one it is — and if it is a POINTED reference which MAN she is pointing to. Now who could it be.

This is one heck of a letter. BRAVO Ms. Whitehouse. BRAVO.

This must have taken a LOT of courage and soul-searching — and, of course, support from many colleagues. I have heard similar, if NOT WORSE, from another ex-staff member. Actually now I think about it, I have heard similar from TWO.

Much has been happening on the ACS Bullying front this Summer.

I have, right here, ready for posting at the drop of a hat, some very damning OFFICIAL letters. They just appear in my e-mail! All of these are letters are very worrying. I have called up and spoken with the N.H. Dept. of Education — TWICE — this Summer, prompted by what I read in these letters.

What a way to start the 2014 – 2015 School Year. Tonight is the ‘Open Night’ for the kids.

The timing of this letter was not a coincidence. BRAVO, Mrs. Whitehouse.

We have tried, unsuccessfully, to raise awareness about bullying protection at Alton.

Now let me THINK. I found this in the MINUTES of a Prospect Mountain School Board meeting, April 8, 2014 meeting. Go to this Prospect Mountain page and download the 04-08-2014 School Board Minutes.

New Hampshire Foliage, Fall 2014 — Not Even A Hint In My Neck Of The Lakes Region.

I, per by Granite State Ambassador (GSA) affiliations, was an ‘official’ Fall Foliage Updater for New Hampshire — for the State run ‘Visit NH‘ Website. I assume I will be asked again this year.

On my ‘near daily’ 2.5 mile run up (and down) Prospect Mountain Road yesterday it crossed my mind that I was not seeing any early tinges of foliage. I also remembered that I had seen some vivid indications of early foliage last year — definitely in August.

This morning while brushing my teeth I had a look outside to see if I could see any foliage given that our bathroom overlooks a sea of green. Noticed just a hint of orange on the gaggle of Stag’s Horn plants we have behind the house. That was about it.

Click to ENLARGE. You will then see the tinges, at the very edges, of orange.

I had another look on my run today. It is all green.

So I checked this blog to see when I first spotted foliage in 2013. August 6! Wow. That was three weeks ago.

Interesting if not outright strange. It has been getting cold at night, quite cold, since LAST Wednesday, i.e., August 13, 2014. We had a BIG storm that night. The weather turned, dramatically, since then. Don’t care what the ‘professionals’ have to say, I know because I live it. Got colder in the evenings and it seems to get darker a tad sooner than I expect. Funnily enough two people on the ‘Great Waters’ cruise on Sunday were talking about this VERY thing before I interjected. They too had noticed.

I made a point of swimming, in Halfmoon Lake, Alton, N.H., yesterday and day before. It was cold! Borderline. I really wanted to swim. I hate it when I stop swimming for the Summer. To me that is the END of the Summer. Not many swimming. I am hoping that we get a few 80F days that might heat up the water. Yikes.

I will keep an eye out for ‘early’ foliage. NOT running for the next fews days. But, I will be out and about.

“Market Basket”, Arthur T. Demoulas Firing — The Real Facts. This Makes Sense.

Click to access very good article from August 14, 2014 in the U.K. “The Guardian”.

Found the link to the above article on ‘Craigslist‘ last night — yet again confirming my stoutly maintained claim that CL, by far, is the best way to have your pulse on the local NE news, and to be daily reminded, not that I need any reminding living in lovely Alton, N.H., that rabid racism is alive and doing very well in MA, NH, ME and VT.

This article about Artie finally makes sense.

From ‘day 1’ I expressed incongruity that he had been supposedly fired for implementing the ‘year only’ 4% discount. Didn’t make sense since this, i.e., the 4% discount, would have required Board approval.

This whole thing about losing U.S. $46 Million on a bad Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Preferred Stock deal in 2007-2008 makes much more sense. Kind of feel for him. I too dabbled in Fannie Mae stock during that time period — but not in Preferred Stock. I think I made a buck or two — and that is NOT a figure of speech. I literally made a buck or two.

This whole story is INTRIGUING and to an extent worrying.

He made up the $46 Million?

They had $46 Million lying around that they could just write-off the loss?

Now, I am having some concerns. I, like a million others, LOVE Market Basket prices. So, how do they do it? They pay more, they give better bonuses, they have a better pension plan and, MOREOVER, they can give us, for ‘a year’ a 4% discount. ON TOP of all this they can just fish up $46 Million. Hhmmmm!

This has to mean that other supermarket chains, e.g., Hannaford, MUST BE ripping us and their employees. Think about it. Market Basket appears to have SO MUCH MORE MARGIN than Hannaford — but lets face it 85% of their suppliers are the same. So figure it out.

Strange. Very strange.

All that said I want MY Market Basket back — please.

Arrived in my e-mail. I am posting AS IS in case ACS parents need access to this over the coming weeks.

PLEASE note that this is AS provided by ACS. I am sure I can do a better rendition than this even without trying. So PLEASE don’t blame me for the poor quality of this map. Talk to the school. OK?

Enjoy. Cheers. See you tonight.
