Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2013 Anura GurugeI can’t hardly wait. I am all set. I can already feel that warm, fruity, somewhat earthy, very satisfying flavor in my mouth.

I contacted Georges Duboeuf a couple of weeks ago and got two e-mails yesterday saying that I have been added to the list that will updates on the progress of the Beaujolais Nouveau. I am psyched. So I will be in a position to keep you abreast even better.

So heads up. The season is upon us. Let us enjoy. Life is short, Beaujolais Nouveau is a joy.

4 months after we lost, to my utmost distress,
Google Voice, OBi has managed to update its API

to AGAIN support Google Voice!

Click to ENLARGE. My OBi110 now configured with both PhonePower as SP1 and Google Voice as SP2. I also have TDS as my POTS like on the ‘physical phone line’ PSTN port.

I happened to get an e-mail on the reinstated Google Voice support last night. At first I was going to ignore it because I was already signed up for a year, for $60, with PhonePower and it has been working quite well.

But it kept nagging at me so I decided to give it a quick spin. I also needed to make a phone call, to a cousin, in Sri Lanka, and Google Voice, with whom I have a credit balance, would have been my cheapest and easiest option.

So I logged onto obihai.com, with trepidation — and it took me a few minutes to realize that I logon using Google+ (since everything with OBi is so closely aligned with Google). Once I was logged in it really only took less than 4 minutes — and that included a COMPLETE software update to the OBi110. Pretty amazing. I kept on waiting for something to go wrong. I was impressed. Tried all 3 of my dial-out options: PhonePower (the default or **1 option), Google Voice the **2 option and TDS the **8 option. They all worked.

I called up Sri Lanka at midnight, which is the best time to call my kin. 10:30 in the morning for them. Had a nice chat. Cost me all of 42 cents.

So, I am happy. I am glad that OBi did this — the right thing.

“Smarter Balanced” assessment (or testing) is aligned to Common Core. It is basically one of the testing components of Common Core. Click image to access the “Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium” to learn more.

Don’t let the “Smarter Balanced” terminology confuse you. This is still about Common Core.

As I noted in this post, two weeks ago, the vote by the Alton Central School (ACS) School Board not to ‘support’ the use of ‘Common Core’ was taken at the September 16, 2013 meeting. So it would have been a year next week.

You would think that they have had plenty of time to come up with a strategy if not a plan.

Wasn’t this covered in the Strategic Plan? I don’t know. I haven’t looked recently.

From same article as above. Use that link to access original.

There are some statements in this article that are beyond the pale. It says that one of the Board Members was ‘NOT CONVINCED’ by the discussion and ‘the discussion’ appears to have hinged on ACS Superintendent, William (‘Bill’) Lander claiming that the State mandates that the test must be conducted. How many shades of gray can you have in that? Shouldn’t the Board have got better clarification of this BY NOW? They have had a year. Does the Board trust the Superintendent on these matters or do they not? Why are they openly questioning his claims? Shouldn’t he have, and I know he is super busy, put together a paper on this that the Board could have studied? He has had 11 months. As far as I know you can produce a baby in 9, so couldn’t these folks have got something sorted out in 11?

Further on it talks about the Chair ‘accusing’ a member of using a ‘crib sheet’ and that the two “went back and forth about this”! What is this. 4th Grade? Amazing.
