To say that I am relieved and happy would be an understatement. This is good, this is good for the World … this is good for the Catholic Church.

I am cool. These two are good people. They have done tangible things for the betterment of others — and that the ‘others’ are kids makes it even better. Congratulations and BRAVO. I am happy.

The pope did NOT deserve this or any other related prize, though I am more than happy if he gets as many entertainment related awards as he wants. Because that is what he has, ALAS, become, an entertainer, a Rock Star. I am still hoping that when he grows up he will actually DO SOMETHING other than giving kids rides in his popemobile and thinking that is what being pope is all about.

Maybe he should read my book about Pope John XXIII (#262) — ah, but he knows no English. Seems very strange. One of his 7 (or more) OFFICIAL titles is ‘Vicar of Christ‘. ‘Vicar’ means ‘stand-in’, ‘substitute’. So you have omnipotent Trinity and then we find out that their vicar has no English! Isn’t that strange. Yes, the pope, very much a mortal (Thank God), can’t be omnipotent BUT wouldn’t you think God would kind of snap his fingers and make sure he, as if by magic, knows all the World’s major languages. That would be cool.

But, forget the Pope for today. Let us REJOICE. There is still common sense and wisdom left on Earth.

Congratulations Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai.
