Well it is NOT just the Alton dump. Alton, N.H. Town Hall is open for business.

Yes, I called. I spoke. It is classed as a ‘Floater Holiday’.

Decision, per the Town Administrator, to stay open during Martin Luther King Day was “made in the 1990s”! He even told me that it used to be called “Civil Liberties Day”.

I pointed out that in 2004 New Hampshire became the last State to recognize the holiday. He did not have a response to that.

So this issue has not been looked at in over 20 decades.

He also admitted that the only place that ‘he knows’ where there is a list of the holidays observed by Alton Town is in the Employees Handbook. Very useful for the residents.
