It is the 1st Quarter Final of the 2015 World Cup and it is too means that I like to watch — especially in their current form, Sri Lanka and South Africa. The batting and bowling, from both sides, should be pretty amazing. We are talking Amla, Quinton de Kock (who I rate as one of the most exciting batsman around, if he is firing on at least 3 cylinders), AB, Duminy, du Plessis, Morkel, Steyn, Dilshan, Chandimal, Kumar, Mahela, Kulasekara, Mendis, Malinga … This should be one heck of a game.

ESPN coverage starts at 11pm. So that is doable. I could even get in 2 hours. That would be good.

Timing could not be any better. I have done all I can do for now on my latest book (my 23rd as a sole author). Deanna has 5 pages still to proof and once that is done, with luck, I can ship it over to New York State so that Louis Epstein, who is very good at it, can have a crack proofing. So I can take 2 hours off without feeling guilty! Not sure whether it is good or bad that I am such a stickler for work. But this would be a very RARE night when I haven’t worked the 3rd shift. By coincidence I happened to see, earlier today, that the print version of “Popes: 101 Facts & Trivia“, got published on September 16, 2014. So 6 months ago. That was no. 22. I started this book, on a whole different subject to anything I have written about before, a few days later — given that I don’t take a break between books. I have started writing no. 24, which is again about popes, in my head. But I can have a night off.

So the blog takes another hit! Sorry. I feel bad that I am not posting as much as I used to and it reflects in my hits per day. Yes, I am still getting over 500 a day but not the 700 to 800 I was getting when I did five, six or more topical posts a day. Just don’t have the time. The latest book is GOOD. Most of you will like it. Some of you will hate it, but that is OK too.

So, cricket tonight. Ironically, so far, I have only watched one 2015 World Cup match, ball-by-ball, to date and that happened to be Australia v. Sri Lanka, from Sydney, on March 8. That it is Sri Lanka on both occasions is a coincidence. I don’t necessarily root for Sri Lanka though I do relate to them. If the final turns out to be West Indies v. Sri Lanka I could be in a pickle. Since the early 1970s the West Indies has been my team — mainly because I knew of the players. But we have four FINE Quarter Finals to get through first. To be honest, right now, before a ball is bowled, I would tip South Africa over Sri Lanka. But, cricket is a funny ol’ game which is what makes it so compelling.
