Why Cricket Is Such A Beautiful Game: British Legend Botham Tears Up When South African Bavuma Scores Maiden Century.

by Anura Guruge

I caught it, i.e., Beefy Botham, all dressed up, wiping tears from his eyes, when 25-year old, ‘little’ (he is 5′ 6″, if that) Temba Bavuma, in his 7th Test Match, scored his maiden Test century. It was quite the innings — even after the superlative Master Class 201 by (vastly recovered) South African captain Hashim Amla and three impressive knocks by AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis & Chris Morris (in his 1st Test). It brought tears to my eyes, though I wasn’t that familiar with Bavuma until this gusty, match-saving innings.

But to see Ian, the Godfather of British cricket, tearing up when a South African steals the Test away from England is what makes cricket SO SPECIAL, SO UNIQUE and SO BEAUTIFUL.

Thank YOU, Ian. I have always liked YOU, through thick and thin. This spontaneous gesture elevates your glorious status, as a GIANT among men, even further.

This was SPECIAL.

Until I just read it I did NOT realize that Bavuma’s hundred was the 1st Test Century by a Black South African. That is special. Nelson would have been so proud. Wonder what Barry Richard’s thought.

Ringling Brothers Circus In Manchester, NH, May 5 – 8, 2016 — Last Show With Elephants?

by Anura Guruge

Click here to access the official Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Webpage for this show.

At the “Verizon Wireless Arena”
Thursday, May 5th to Sunday, May 8th.

I was puzzled when I got an e-mail from Verizon (with whom I am registered) that ‘THE CIRCUS‘ was coming to Town, viz. Manchester, New Hampshire (our ‘Queen City’), in May.

For the last 7 years or more the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey circus had come to Manchester in October. We should know since we have never missed a show during those years.

Yes, last October, with very poor attendance, I did hear staff talking that they might move the show away from October to avoid conflicts with the various Fall Fairs, e.g., Deerfield & Sandwich. So that could have been it.

The timing, early May, intrigued me. They have now stated that they will retire ALL elephant acts ‘IN May’. ‘In’ could mean sometime during that entire month. It is interesting that their promos for the show does feature elephants. So this could be HISTORIC for us. Last Ringling Brothers in Manchester with elephants.

As I have always advised: BEST way to get tickets for the circus (or for that matter any show at the Verizon) is to SOMEHOW, by hook or by crook, go directly to the Box Office at the arena. Buying tickets through ‘TicketMaster‘ is a SCAM.

Proposed New Hampshire Law To Take Away The Current FREEDOM Of “Free The Nipple”.

by Anura Guruge

It was the fear of this, i.e., NEW laws where prior laws did not exist precluding female toplessness, that made me turn my back on NH “Free The Nipple“. The nipple was FREE in NH, sans any laws, until these shortsighted folks started clamoring for freedom for something that was already free. Did not make sense.

Now, as I dreaded, three NH lawmakers, all from my county of Belknap, Messrs. Gallagher, Hurt and Spanos, and introduced N.H. House Bill (HB) 1525-FN, an act relative to the circumstances that constitute indecent exposure and lewdness.
