‘Photokina’ 2016 is towards the end of September. If Olympus waits till then to announce the REFRESH for the OM-D E-M1 it would be a full 3 years since the first model was unveiled. If at all possible Olympus should bring forward the announcement to give Fuji X-T2 aspirants, I among those, a very competitive Micro Four-Thirds alternative. Next to Fuji the Olympus OM-D line is my next favorite in terms of extensive direct control — though I am getting increasingly fond of my Panasonic Lumix LX100.

I would seriously look at the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mk. II. My only reservation would be the Sensor Size. But the exceptional Image Stabilization of the Olympus, even without ‘Dual IS’ is a major consideration. The new Olympus PEN-F looks real attractive and has enough control wheels at the back to keep me entertained BUT all the reviews I read say that it is unbalanced, in terms of weight, with anything other than small (light) prime lenses — and the one type of lens I am UNLIKELY to use are primes. I am a zoom guy. It actually got me looking at Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mk IIs. Refurbished Mk Is are available for $350 directly from Olympus. Tempting.

Fun, fun … fun.
