Christmas On A Sunday, As In This Year, i.e., 2016, Is Not That Rare.

by Anura Guruge

Yes, having Christmas fall on a Sunday, a day associated with Christian religious observations, does seem special — and it should be.

But, Christmas falling on a Sunday is NOT that rate.

We might NOT remember but it actually happened in 2011 & 2005. So that is 3 times in 12 years. That is, however, always not the case.

From 1900 to 1999 Christmas fell on a Sunday: 1904, 1910, 1921, 1927, 1932, 1938, 1949, 1955, 1966, 1983 & 1994.

From 2000 to 2099 Christmas fell or will fall on a Sunday: 2005, 2011, 2016, 2022, 2033, 2039, 2044, 2050, 2061, 2067, 2072, 2078, 2089 & 2095.

If you look at those years you will notice, if you study them, that there is both a 11-year and 6-year repeat cycle, in there. The 11-year repeat cycle is very common for anniversaries like this.

So most of us should enjoy 10 to 12 (and maybe more) Christmases on Sundays during a typical lifetime.

Enjoy. Merry Christmas.
