In Honor Of Dr. Heimlich’s Passing — My Favorite Heimlich Maneuver Story.

by Anura Guruge

This is a true story.

Popular restaurant on the outskirts of Houston, Texas — November 1987.

A young couple, out for the night, are enjoying a romantic dinner. She had ordered a steak, medium rare, and was tucking into. A boyfriend was busy courting her.

Suddenly she starts choking on a piece of steak.

The whole restaurant goes quiet. Nobody moves. She is choking away.

Two cowboys, both wearing hats, are eating at a nearby table.

One of them slowly gets up. Pushes his chair away. Takes off his hat and leaves it on the table.

Then he purposefully, like real cowboys do, walks up to the choking girl. She is now in quite a bit of distress and starting to turn blue.

He walks up behind her. Doesn’t say a word. Puts his hands under her armpits and yanks her up.

Everybody heaves a sigh of relief.

The cowboy, brusquely, pushes her chair away with his left foot.

He then falls to his knees behind the still choking girl.

What he does next was a total surprise to all.

He yanks up the girl’s skirt and rips off her panties.

There is an audible gasp from the diners.

Then he starts to lick the girl’s naked behind.

She is so shocked, embarrassed and amazed that she spits out the lodged piece of steak.

She can breathe again and she does.

Though still bemused by what they have seen everybody bursts into applause.

The cowboy gets up.The girl brushes down her skirt.

The cowboy, with a sheepish grin, waits for the applause to die down.

He then clears his throat and says in a drawl: “that HIND LICK maneuver always works“.

Boom. Boom. {SMILE}

“Free The Nipple” Now In New Zealand Which Has Liberal But Ambiguous Topless/Nudity Laws.

by Anura Guruge

As someone who goes topless as often as I can, I have always been a big proponent of toplessness — whether it be people or cars.

I fully support a female’s right to go topless.

The one gripe I have had with the “Free the Nipple” movement, especially the New Hampshire arm, is that you can’t PROTEST for ‘freeing the nipple’ when the LAW already permits (or at least does not stop) female toplessness.

So, I basically don’t agree with PROTESTING to free something that is ALREADY FREE. To I that just feels wrong and an insult to all of those, worldwide, that are protesting against things that are unreasonably banned.

On that vein, the situation in New Zealand is interesting. Basically they appear to have no statutes against nudity. That is different from say New Hampshire which has a statute that says female topless is not against the law. Hence the ambiguity. Not having a law is sometimes not the same as having a law that says something is permitted or not. So on that basis I am all in favor of this movement in New Zealand.

Google “New Zealand Free The Nipple” for much more. Even pictures. {SMILE}

Would The Buddha Really Have Said “When You Love A Flower, You Water It Daily”?

by Anura Guruge

I saw this on Facebook Friday, December 16, 2016.

As soon as I saw this it struck me, immediately and viscerally, as incongruous.

I really don’t remember hearing much about the Buddha, i.e., Gautama Buddha, talking about love! That is true and in my youth I was very immersed in Buddhism and would have remembered if ‘love’ was a major plank of the Buddha’s teaching.

Got me thinking. Gautama Buddha and love! Hhhhmmmm.

This was a man who walked away from his newly born son, supposedly his only child, without a backward glance or any regrets — within 24 hours of the son being born! This was a man who walked away from his doting wife. Why? Because he fretted that life was misery. I only started seeing this aspect of the Buddha over the last 15 – 20 years. I do not see him as what you would call an affectionate person.

Then there is his WHOLE thing about ATTACHMENTS. Love is the ultimate form of attachment.

And then on further reflection I realized that it is very unlikely that the Buddha would have said: “When You Love A Flower, You Water It Daily”.

Three reasons.

  1. This would have created an attachment to a ‘thing’, i.e., the flower, that by nature would soon die. That was anathema to the Buddha. So, that was strike one.
  2. The Buddha was BIG into flowers — as ‘things’ that should be used when meditating, and doing so by focusing on how a fresh, beautiful flower would soon die, wither away and become unsightly. Strike two.
  3. The Buddha would have known that you don’t water a flower per se, and that any amount of watering would not permit it to last ‘that long’. Strike three.

I could be wrong. But, this does not sound like a saying from the Buddha. Enlighten me IF I am wrong. I am all ears.

Thanks. Merry Christmas.
