The First Flight Over Mount Everest Took Place This Day 84-Years Ago, April 3, 1933 — Led By The British ‘Duke Of Hamilton’.

Also known as the Marquess of Douglas and Clydesdale. Interesting person. Love his name with the double ‘Douglas’. Wikipedia entry:,_14th_Duke_of_Hamilton

Mount Everest was very much a part of the ‘British Raj‘ and, of course, in the 1930s, nearly all of the Everest related exploits were invariably British led. And that, of course, continued into the 1950s with the British-led conquest of Everest.
