‘Amazon Adventure’ (2017) IMAX Movie: Even Better Than What The Title Connotes.

by Anura Guruge

We saw this yesterday, in IMAX, at the Boston “Museum of Science“.

I bought the tickets, just based on the title (and the time of the showing (1pm)) without reading the description. With two kids in tow I knew I couldn’t go too far astray with that title.

Well, it was NOT the typical Amazon river adventure drama that you would expect — though it had its fair share of drama and action.

It has to do with the finding of EVIDENCE to support Darwin’s (then revolutionary) ‘Theory of Evolution‘.

I was somewhat familiar with one the protagonists of the story — Alfred Russel Wallace, though I only knew of his work in Asia and not the Amazon.

Knew nothing of Henry Walter Bates. Now I know and I am glad I was exposed to him via this movie.

Good movie. I recommend it — highly.

London Zoo Was Opened This Day 189-Years Ago!

I used to visit often. I love that zoo. I was last there in 1998 I think. IF I could visit one more time before I die that would be neat.

The ‘ZSL‘ is NOT, thankfully, a sponsorship deal. It has to do with the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) which founded the zoo.

IF you visit London this should be a MUST.

Oldest zoo in the world!

Taking Selfies My Way — Part XIII; Boston “Museum Of Science”, April 26, 2017.

No trip to the Boston “Museum of Science” is complete unless I take a selfie in one of their many mirrors. These were the selfies from March 2, 2017.

Wow. I will have to work on my impressive TRIPLE chin! I look like the turkey that many think I am!

Today Is “Unconditional Surrender (Ulysses S.) Grant’s” Birthday; This Great Man Was Born April 27, 1822.

My all time favorite U.S. General ahead of Patton (who had some flaws) and one of my favorite Presidents (and I don’t give a damn what they say about the corruption (which is NOTHING compared to what we have now).

What a MAN. What an inspiration. I can truly relate to him.

In 2004 I made a PILGRIMAGE to his tomb in New York. What a beautiful monument in a magnificent setting. I need to go back again.

I paid the ULTIMATE HONOR that I bestow on my heroes. I named a Golden after him. My Ulysses.

Grant’s tomb — which is NOT empty.

The OTHER Ulysses who like his namesake was one impressive piece of work. 2001 to 2013. Taken in 2013 when he was fully 12-years old. Very fit dog.
