Christopher Columbus Sighted The ‘New World’ For The First Time, This Day, 525-Years Ago — For Better Or For Worse.

Changed the world, indubitably and irrevocably — for better or for worse.

So, today, October 12, is the real ‘Columbus Day‘ — though it should always be understood and appreciated that Christopher never set foot in North America, let alone the U.S.!

He set out, on this first voyage, on August 3, 1492. So they were quite literally ‘at sea’ for 70-days before spotting land.
