Forcing A Sync Between Garmin & An Android Phone — When ALL Else Fails.

by Anura Guruge

This is for ALL of you who have trouble getting
Garmin watches, e.g., Vivoactive or Vivofit, to Sync.

This is ONLY for Android phones & tablets.
(It might work with Apple but I have never owned an iPhone or iPad.)

Follow these steps.

Go to ‘SETTINGS‘ and click on ‘Apps & Notifications

Select ‘ALL apps’.

Go to the 3 Vertical Dots (menu/option) icon (Ξ) on the TOP RIGHT and click on that.

Click ‘Show System’ (Apps).

Scroll down to ‘Bluetooth Share’.

Click on ‘Force stop’.

Do NOT panic. Do not fear. It will automatically restart after the stop.

Get out of ‘Apps & Notification’.

Go to Garmin Connect and do a manual Sync.

This really should work.

Worked for me 100% of the time with Vivoactive HR and Vivoactive 3.

I now have a Google Pixel 2 and a Garmin Fenix 5. They sync together pretty well.

6 Activity/Fitness Trackers In 11-Months; 4 Garmin, 1 Fitbit & 1 Samsung.

It is coming up to my 1st year of being hooked on Activity/Fitness trackers and I fully realize that it has been a very eventful year.

I thought I better chronicle it for posterity. I hope that the coming and succeeding years will be somewhat different.

PLEASE do notice that two of the watches, BOTH Garmin Vivoactive 3s, DIED on me. If they hadn’t died I probably still would be wearing a Vivocative 3.

My original Garmin Vivoactive HR is still going strong and just 2-days ago my daughter said that she still loves it. So, that is good.

The other daughter (12) is very attached to her pink Fitbit Ionic and it allows us to track her sleep — which is good since she appears to have some sleep issues. So, two of the watches are still doing good. I made out well on the Samsung S3 that I sold on Facebook within 24-hours. So, I am cool with that.

So, now the Garmin Fenix 5 — which I love. If I knew as much about Activity/Fitness trackers a year ago as I know now, I would have just gone with a Fenix 5 to begin with.

So, that is my saga ….

Teischan’s Latest Art Project.

This is the fan from an old box fan that gave up the ghost a few days ago. I kind of knew that it would look ‘interesting’ painted. So, I suggested that to her. I also got her going on dismantling the box and getting to the fan. She enjoyed that. So, this was the outcome.

We plan to mount in on a pole and put it out to see if it will spin in the breeze. Maybe I should try and do that today.
