It was the usual mediocre July 3rd fireworks, to mark July 4th, which is what us long term locals have come to expect from Alton. Alton does noticeably better when it come to the “Old Home Day” fireworks in August. That is just how things are in Alton — in terms of how they spend their fireworks budget.
The 2018 July 3rd Alton fireworks did NOT deviate from that norm. They were not spectacular — just a halfhearted firework show. BUT, in my book any firework show is a firework show. As usual there was nothing to write home about — but just enough for this blog post. Another beautiful evening. Goldilocks. The weather was just perfect.
For the second year in a row it was not that crowded. That worries me.
