In Barnstead, New Hampshire — next door to where “Sawyer’s Christmas Open House” is held. Yes, it is an active church and I think it is called North Barnstead Church.

Without Heart Rate It Is Meaningless To Compare ‘Casio Protech’ To ‘Garmin Fenix 5’.

by Anura Guruge

I happened to see the ‘Gear Petrol’ article in my Google News feed and was intrigued to see what this competitor to the Garmin Fenix 5 (Plus) was. A Casio? Wow.

I used to, in the 1980s, be a big fan of Casio though I honestly can’t remember whether I ever owned. I am sure I must have.

While I knew Casio continued to make ruggedized, outdoor watches I did not think they were in the same league as a Garmin Fenix.

So, I looked and did some quick research. Though Casio does make some ‘inexpensive’ watches with Heart Rate (HR), HR is NOT available on the Pro Tech line.

Without HR it is NOT a FITNESS tracker. Just a smartwatch with GPS.

But, Casio has the resources, smarts and drive to get that right. So, as of now I am going to keep an eye on Casio. I suspect that by this time next year Casio may have a watch that is as good as today’s Garmin Fenix 5 (but probably not as good as the ‘Plus’ in that it is unlikely to have music).

So, stay tuned.

Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None” On “Acorn TV” Is Classic — Very Watchable.

by Anura Guruge

Of course Agatha Christie sure know how to spin out a good murder-mystery story and this is very much a classic. We saw it on Acorn and decided to watch it without knowing that the “The Guardian” (UK) had called it the “TV Event of the Year”. I can appreciate the excitement.

We have not watched all three episodes to the end. We are about 10-minutes into the second one and we know that we will finish it the next time we are watching TV.

Very artistic in parts too. The figurines of the ’10 soldiers’ are a work of art. Wow. I would love to have them.

Definitely watch it if you can. Yes, yes, very British and period — but what would you expect from dear Agatha.
