I have during my numerous trips to Arizona, spanning four decades, picked up numerous items of Native American art. I happened to notice this one today. I will have to go check if it has a label. cannot remember where or when I got it. Just know I have had it for a long time.

I also just noticed, BLACK FACE!

On the figure on the right it is unmistakable. He has a brown body — not dissimilar to mine.

So, when did Native Americans start doing Black Face? Were they doing it before they ever so an African? I don’t know.

But, what are the implications.

Should the Native Americans, collectively, apologize to the Black Americans for this? I don’t know.
