Per My ‘Garmin Fenix 5 Plus’ I DIED Twice, In My Sleep, Last Night.

I did NOT wake up dead tired. So, I have to assume that dying isn’t very tiring — and, of course, also the resurrection. Didn’t feel a thing.

I did, however, extremely atypically, oversleep by 20 minutes. I do NOT (contrary to what Garmin Connect thinks) use an alarm. I get up when I get up. Usually it is between 8:40 to 8:55 am. I am like clockwork. Not this morning. Strange. My body must have been compensating for the time I was dead.

As the chart below shows I am NOT new to Garmin. I check my heart rate FIRST THING each morning — just to make sure that I had not died.

This is the first time I have seen that I died. Kind of cool.

Yes, I have a depressed heart rate. Yes, part of that is drugs — legal ones, in particular MIRACLE-DRUG Toprol XL which I have been on for 20+ years. Plus, as befits someone in the TOP 99% of floor climbers I am reasonably fit.

My sleeping heart rate does go below 40. I have seen 32. But, never ‘ZERO’.

No, I do not have sleep APNEA and my BMI is definitely lower than that of Donald Trump. Promise and Mexico did not pay me to say that.

So, …..

My adoptive mother died in her sleep when she was 62. No symptoms. Nothing. Just died in her sleep. She was 62. I am 65. But, we do not share any genes (and she never wore jeans).

Interesting. Does not bother me. Dying in your sleep is the best way to go. So, I am cool with this.

Let’s see if I die again tonight. No, I am NOT going to think about it, BUT I bet my resting heart-rate will be up.

I was working it out. I died TWICE. So, I am now in my THIRD-COMING. Maybe I should start a cult.

Don’t wish me anything. Let nature take its course.

Topless Skydiving ‘Fleggaard’ Supermarket Commercial — Way Too Racy For American TV.

Very clever & obviously irresistibly compelling to most of us lucky men who are, of course, genetically programmed to respond to such visual titillation.

As far as marketing goes it is absolutely brilliant.

It is to sell € 269 (i.e., US $305) Siemens washing machines!

These washing machines are being sold in Denmark by a small (Costco-owned) supermarket chain named ‘Fleggaard’. You see that name come up at the end.

Though Siemens is German these washing machines are cheaper at Fleggaard’s (in Denmark) than they are in Germany – and Fleggaard has supermarkets right on the border (albeit on the Danish side).

Hence the message at the end: ‘Lige over grænsen’ (Just over the border). And since both countries are in the European Union there are no customs or taxes. Just like buying a washing machine from another State and hauling it back.

Very clever.

Well, I being who I am wanted to know how the commercial was made. I knew that the girls did NOT skydive topless. ‘They’ would have FROZE. Simple as that. So, I went looking. Found how it was made. Pretty close to what I thought. Enjoy.

James A. Michener, Based On His ‘Tales of the South Pacific’, Might Have Been A Closet Racist!

Do not get me wrong. I am a HUGE fan of James A. Michener, as the photo below of my little ‘shrine’ to him in my library amply testifies. Also, if you do a SEARCH of this Blog (using the included SEARCH feature) of ‘Michener‘ you will see that I rave about him.

I know he was a good man, had a good heart and was a true philanthropist.

But, I finished reading his acclaimed, award-winning ‘Tales of the South Pacific‘ (1947) and I was NOT impressed. There were parts in it which were very disturbing. Yes, I appreciate that he wrote per 1946 standards BUT his tone and timbre when he deals with non-whites is patently wrong and offensive.

He repeatedly calls Polynesians and Chinese SAVAGES. I show but three examples above. There are more. Go to Amazon and use the electronic ‘Look Inside‘ feature. You can search for words with that. Type in ‘savages’.

You could NOT get away with that today.

Polynesians and Chinese?

Yes, that I am Asian probably makes me a tad more sensitive than others.

I like Polynesians and Chinese. They are NOT savages.

He also is very dismissive of American blacks in the forces. YIKES.

I also question his sexual-orientation. He comes across as ‘not that partial to women‘. Yes, I know he was thrice married and his last wife was Japanese. But, he was more than happy to leave his first wife for long periods of time and he was childless. Hhhmmm.

I was looking forward to reading this book. I had just finished ‘The Covenant‘. Yes, there were bits in there that raised my eyebrows and hackles, but nothing like what I encountered, alas, with ‘Tales of the South Pacific’.
