I Have Become Totally & Hopelessly Hooked On “Ketchup Sriracha” Style.

by Anura Guruge

Target has it for under $3.00.

I happened to be passing the Walmart clearance shelves (in their food department) when my eyes caught this. I like Sriracha. I used to always order the Sriracha Burger at Friendly’s. Walmart had it marked down to $1.50 or maybe it was 92 cents. I just took it for the heck of it.

I tried a bit when I got home. It lit up my world. It is good. Really good.

Yes, of course, I like spicy food. Spicy food bothers me none. So, I am a natural for this.

I have been eating it on all sorts since.

Delighted to see that I can buy more, at a reasonable price, from Target.

You really should try it. It will spice up your world.

I Sold My Nikon P900 Mega-Zoom On eBay This Morning, Within 2-Hours — I Currently Have NO Cameras!

by Anura Guruge

This was what you could call an impulse sale. I had not been planning to sell this Nikon P900. I had it for 2.5 years and was quite fond of it. It has unparalleled zoom capability and can take some awesome macros. So, I was going to hold onto to it.

But, I was not using it. Last time I used it was in October 2018 — over 6-months ago. Ideally I would have liked to have given it to somebody. But, nobody wants a camera these days — they are quite content with using their smartphone. And as cameras go, this, with its huge zoom, is heavy & bulky.

So, I took some pictures of it, using my Google Pixel 2, and listed it on eBay. Yes, I low-balled the ‘Buy It Now’ price. I did not want to relist it because that costs more money. I just wanted to get it done with. And I did not have to wait long. Definitely less than 2-hours.

Plus, now, eBay nor PayPal hold onto the money you get. It is available — instantly. That is nice.

So, I have sold all my cameras. This time last year I had 3 cameras: Sony a7 II Full Frame, Sony a6500 APSC and this mega-zoom Nikon P900 — in addition to my Google Pixel 2. Now I have no cameras. Yes, I plan to get a Canon EOS RP within the next 2 weeks.

‘Garmin MARQ’ Smartwatches: 3-Weeks After Announcements Still No Signs Of Availability.

There might be nothing awry or amiss, but I find it a tad incongruous. 3-weeks ago when it was announced, Garmin, as is fairly typical for them, said “availability within 3-5 weeks”. OK, so we have now had 3-weeks. Shouldn’t this now say: “availability within 2-3 weeks”?

That there is NOTHING on Amazon is even more curious. Typically they would have pre-orders by now. I remember that from when I was waiting for a Garmin Vivoactive 3.

Maybe this will all change this week. Just a heads-up. I was curious and I do plan to get my hands on one — the Expedition.

Sinhala New Year (Aluth Avurudda) — Wikipedia Now Has A Pretty Informative Page.

I came across this Wikipedia page today when trying to research the auspicious times for the 2019 Sinhala New Year (Aluth Avurudda). I had not encountered it before —  though it appears that it was created in 2017.

I am glad it is there. It is a good start. Already a fair amount of information. That they don’t have the auspicious times for this year’s New Year is a bit of a shame. But, Bravo. We now have a foothold, on this topic, on Wikipedia. It will continue to grow and prosper. I am glad.

Happy Sinhala New Year 2019.

The 3rd New Year of the Year for I.
But you can never have too many.

Enjoy. Rejoice.

Lake Winnipesaukee [NH] Ice-Out: Longest [i.e., Latest] Occurrences.

by Anura Guruge

1964 was a LEAP YEAR and I take that into account.
I count days from January 1, taking into account leap years.
So, April 29 in a non-leap year is the SAME as April 28 in a Leap Year.

So, of course, we have had ice-outs as late as May 12 — albeit not of late.

2018 [i.e., last year], on April 26, was pretty late. Don’t think it will be as late this year. But, I suspect we are still at least a good week away.
