Perfect. Just the right amount. Goldilocks. Enough to add a bit of ‘color’ but not to get in the way. Temperature was nice too. Mid- to high-30s. We will take that. Yes, we had more snow than this in past years. But we are not complaining. This was good. We were Thankful.

‘Lost & Found’ (2019) Irish Movie — Alas NOT Another ‘Waking Ned Devine’.

There have been quite a few good — and in some cases outstanding — movies that have come out of Ireland. This is NOT one of them! Though billed as such, it is definitely not a comedy and nowhere close to being another ‘Waking Ned Devine‘. And it is also not ‘Crying Game‘ though towards the end I was nearly ready to cry that I had wasted my time watching this tripe.

What drew me to it was the ‘7 interconnected stories‘ pitch. I like that genre and as you must know there have been some very clever and compelling movies of that type. This, alas, is not one of them.

Not a clever movie. Not profound in any aspect. I might even say it was bloody awful.

I did, however, enjoy seeing the trains! Never realized that they had such fancy and large (as in length) trains in Ireland. Also freight trains full of wood. Wow. That was about the highlight.

Do not get me wrong. It might appeal to some. Not I. So, I just wanted to give you a heads up on that. SMILE.

It was FREE. So, all I lost was 90-minutes of my time and some dignity — though I did do 23-minutes of pedaling my stationary bike while watching this. So, it wasn’t time totally wasted.

‘Digital Boost’ — Finally A Decent Looking, Functional ‘Digital’ Watch Face From Garmin With A ‘Seconds’ Field.

Click to access the ‘Connect IQ’ listing for this watch face.

If you have NOT noticed Garmin tends to focus on analog watch faces. To I that is so, so, so passé. Though I am old enough to have grown up with ONLY analog watches I no longer see any merit or joy in analog — ANYTHING (other than maybe vinyl records). I like to glance at my watch and see the time as it is, i.e., in DIGITAL.

I also like to see SECONDS. Not that it matters that much, but it seems a waste not to be able to see it because there times when it is nice to see time ticking away without having to activate a timer.

Finally with ‘Digital Boost‘ Garmin has given me a watch face that I like and will use!

Prior to this I always used ‘ActiFace‘ (below). No guarantee that I will not be going back to ‘ActiFace’ gives me EVERYTHING I want. I love ‘ActiFace’. But, I also would like a change.

Yes, ‘Digital Boost’ should, ideally, offer more customization. I, for one, do NOT need a ‘Move’ bar. It would be nice to plug-in sunrise/sunset somewhere.

But, this is a start. Wow. Thanks Garmin.

‘ActiFace’ as I use it — customized.

Happy Thanksgiving 2019 From Anura Guruge.

by Anura Guruge

Happy Thanksgiving.

Appears that we in New Hampshire, for a very rare change, lucked out. Some strong winds (and yes, we could lose power) but no snow or bitter cold. Not so many of you in other parts. Sorry. Stay warm & safe & enjoy the turkey.

There is nothing that says you shouldn’t THINK at Thanksgiving. If anything it is a good time to THINK. You can’t be THANKFUL unless you THINK.

At some point please make a point of giving THANKS that you still can THINK.

Cheers.

A Swarming Of The Birds — Central New Hampshire, November 26, 2019.

by Anura Guruge

Teischan was up on the ladder putting up the Christmas lights when she spotted — and then heard — the birds. I happened to be outside with her, with my phone in my hand. She came down from the ladder. They were swarming across the road. Some would perch on the trees on the other side. That was a LOT of birds. Quite the scene. Kind of like the movie. I will confess that I have no idea as to the type of bird or what causes this. On my list of things I need to look up. Maybe tonight — 3rd shift. I think they are ‘blackbirds’ BUT I could be dead wrong. Teischan is pretty sure that they are NOT bats. That would be something. That many bats. They could do a huge amount of damage.

2019 Christmas Lights (Or At Least 1st Batch) Go Up — Albeit A Week Later Than Last Year.

by Anura Guruge

All her, i.e., Teischan’s (13), work. All I have to do is get the ladder out, find the lasers and bring them out and tell her which extensions cords will suffice. She does the rest all on her own. This is her 3rd year (is it 4th) doing it all on her own. She now knows even how to replace fuses. It is GREAT. I do remember the days when I had to do this.

Don’t tell anyone. OK? We let her stay home today so that she could put up the lights! She is, AGAIN, going to be homeschooled, soon — so, … She wouldn’t have done anything at school. anyway. Today was a day scheduled for ‘goofing’.

Week later than last year — and you can blame it on henna! On Saturday we went to get the henna and on Sunday she spent much of the day mastering it.

More lights to put out. One laser that is not connected and I might have to get a few other ‘illuminations’. We really need a more POWERFUL laser — one that will burn holes in the siding.

Stay tuned. Three weeks to go and Teischan and I have not made an emergency run to Lowes to get more lights!
