New Study By ‘University Of Liverpool’ Concludes That Reading For Pleasure Is V. Beneficial To One’s Well Being.

Wow. I am CHUFFED. But, am I chuffed (because I am innately happy) due to my lifelong addiction to ‘reading for pleasure‘.

30 minutes a (bloody) week. Try 30-minutes (at least) a DAY. 210-minutes, MINIMUM, per week — and that has been every day (bar nary a miss) for 62-years.

Next to sex and WRITING, reading is my greatest pleasure — in terms of things I do. I caught the bug young — when I was 3 (when I started to be able to read in both English and Sinhalese). That my adoptive father too was an incessant reader (& writer) definitely had something to do with it — and I grew up in a house with a HUGE, book-lined library. So, that was a good start.

So, I am HAPPY. That is one of my trademark traits. I am HAPPY. Is that happiness due to all the reading I do? I am not sure. I don’t think so. Reading most likely helps. In my case I think it is also hormones and my rather unique relationship with my brain (my best friend) — à la my ‘Brain Meditation‘ precepts.

But, I read a lot and I am happy, content and satisfied. Maybe there is a connection.

I am flabbergasted by folks that do NOT read, for pleasure, day-in and day-out. I feel sorry for them. I feel that they are missing so much in life. This study just confirms my feelings on the front. SMILE. Read. It is good for YOU.
