I KNOW that there are those that walk more than this, BUT, I am HAPPY.
Yes, I could easily walk more, the problem is that of TIME — my eternal nemesis. I now spend around 2.25 hours a day walking. That is a BIG chunk of time for I. SMILE.
I did NOT set out to walk ~500,000 steps a day.
I just changed ONE metric in my life. For 30-years I had followed this ‘3-days ON, 1-day OFF‘ paradigm. One day of rest, after each 3 days of exercise to let muscles recover. BUT, that was when I used to run — as opposed to walk. I don’t stress my muscles & body as much now. I still run — but not daily, and never too far. Yes, I am still ‘babying’ my knee after my quad tendon surgery last year. SMILE.
On my days off I walked less than 10K steps — INTENTIONALLY.
Then on April 17, 2020, I stopped doing that. I decided to TRY & hit 10K every day — though aiming for less than 16K steps on my days off.
And this is the result. I am happy.
Am I fit. I think I am OK for somebody who will be 67 in 2-months.
My VO2 Max is 42 & per Garmin my fitness age … Well, this picture says it all.
Am I happy & content. Hhhhhm.
I would like to lose another 10 pounds & get my VO2 Max. up. But, beggars can’t be choosers.
I do NOT DELUDE myself. All of this means NOTHING. I can have a stroke or a heart-attack TODAY. SMILE. I am not totally stupid — just partially. SMILE.
But, I like walking. I take pictures while I walk. I, quite literally, smell the roses. I think. I am happy.
