Pregnant USPS Mail Carrier Turns Amazon Prime On Its Head.

by Anura Guruge

Our mail carrier is pregnant & I am DELIGHTED for her. I am 100% behind her in terms of HER rights, SAFETY. health & comfort. IF I had my way I want all pregnant women to have at least 18-months of fully paid maternity leave. I hate to see heavy pregnant women having to work. Hate to see mother’s having to go back to work within weeks of giving birth. This is NOT a sexist post. I am a great supporter of pregnant & breastfeeding women.

This post is JUST about USPS policy & Amazon Prime.

I get my dog food from Amazon Prime on a subscription basis. 30lb bag every 4-weeks. Was delivered a month ago, no problem.

She can now only carry 20lbs. So, we had to go the Post Office & pick it up. Ah!

Well, I had two phone conversations with Amazon & one with USPS.

The baby is not due till mid-February 2021. She plans to work till close to that. Ah?

She will be pregnant during Christmas.

This could be problematic.

What do YOU think?

We do NOT go by the Post Office every day. Lucky if we go by it twice a week.

Shenandoah National Park ‘Skyland Resort’ Does Have Limit Wi-Fi & TV In Certain Rooms.

We spent 5-nights at ‘Skylands’ at the start of this month. It was wonderful & memorable. Definitely recommend it.

When I was looking through the reviews I saw a lot of conflicting reports about Wi-Fi & TV availability. So, let me please give you the definitive update.

Skyland has Wi-Fi. It is very slow (like 45kbps) BUT it is stable & reliable. Yes, you get more bandwidth the less folks using it. So, bandwidth is better late at night as folks go to bed. That is where the stability & reliability kicks in. Though it is slow, it is not erratic & as such does NOT kick you out. Why am I stressing this. It means that photo backup to the cloud happened.

That was my biggest concern. Having my photos from my Google Pixel 4 backed up to Google Photo. Though I was taking 200 pictures a day the Wi-Fi was adequate enough to back 90% to Google Photos during the night as I slept. I activated data when I wanted to access a Website. Cell reception isn’t great, so there wasn’t much bandwidth with data either.

Wi-Fi is better around the office & dining room area. But, there is plenty of space to hang out. So, that wasn’t a problem.

We (of course (SMILE)) opted for a SUPERIOR room in the main building — attached to the office. See above pictures. All those rooms had TV. When I heard that Wi-Fi was poor I wanted TV given that I am a news junkie. These rooms were good. Quiet enough & a rather nice view overlooking Luray — in the valley below. The cabins are more rustic. IF, I am lucky enough to go back again I might give one of the cabins a spin NOW that I know where most of them are. SMILE. Yes, I did a lot of walking & exploring.

Hope this helps. GREAT PLACE. We were lucky. Memorable.

Fitbit’s New ‘Sense’ (Shipping In October) Gets FDA Approved ECG/EKG Heart Monitoring Support.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE & read. From fitbit.com.

Yes, Apple ‘Watch Series 4’ pioneered ECG/EKG way back in 2018. This is, however, Fitbit’s first foray into this field. That it has got US FDA approval is BIG. Samsung is still struggling to get this approved on their new ‘Watch 3’. That must be galling for them.

The Fitbit ‘Sense’, at $329, is quite the watch. It has built-in GPS & all the latest health tracking features. Most impressive Fitbit ever — & it even has an AMOLED, always-on display with a 6-day battery life. This is quite the watch & it is $100 cheaper than the Samsung ‘Watch 3’. Hopefully I will get one, in October, from ‘Heart Rate Monitors USA‘ (HRM USA) to evaluate. I will keep you posted. OK?
