Last Time Christmas Was On A Friday, As In 2020 — Was In 2015.

There would have been one in 2004
IF NOT for it having been a Leap Year.
Christmas, per the name ‘LEAP’,
jumped over Friday & took place on Saturday.

Last time we had Christmas, i.e., December 25th, on a Friday was in 2015 — 5-years ago.

6-year gaps are common. The cycle as to when the same date falls on a given day (e.g., Monday) goes in 6-5-6-11 cycle. You can see that in the image above — as to when Christmas has fallen on a Wednesday.

This 6-5-6-11 cycle has all to do with leap years. You can see that in the 2nd figure above.

The 5-year gap comes about when we have had TWO leap years, e.g., 1996 & 2000. In each case we LEAPT over a day (which is why we call it a Leap Year, i.e., because we leap over a day, in the calendar). Because of the two leap years, the gap was only 5-days. Then, between 2000 and 2006 there was only ONE leap year. So we only leapt over one-day. The gap was thus 6.

Next year, i.e., 2021, it falls on a Saturday — BUT the Friday, Christmas Eve will be a holiday.

My Avatar On Netflix Is So, So I.

by Anura Guruge

Spot on, right? You would recognize me anywhere, though I am never dressed that well.

I had NOT bothered with an avatar. Then, ‘someone’, who we will not name, added one. Well, that was a challenge.

Only took me a second to find ‘I’ on Netflix. Perfect. Made my day.

The Bird Feeder Next To My Desk/PC, 45′ In The Air, With Its Colorful Buffet.

by Anura Guruge

Those of you who have been longtime followers of this blog know that we like bird feeders  . We have quite a few — though we have been forced to pare back after our four bear attacks this Summer, & I am the first to admit that it was OUR fault & not the bears in that, each time, we forgot to bring the feeders in.

Now our emphasis is on window feeders in places that bears can’t reach.

I jerry-rigged this one. It is not a birdfeeder per se. It is a metal shelving unit I modified to hang outside my office window. It is about 4′ feet from my right hand as I type.

I have to open the window, even in the winter, to fill it. I don’t mind. It tooks MONTHS before the birds discovered it. It is WAY UP. I guess they didn’t expect to find a feeder. That is why I try to make it colorful.

The white background. SNOW. Not PhotoShop. SNOW. Snow on the garage roof which is below.
