‘ActiFace’ has been my default Garmin watch face since 2017. I have used it, with pleasure, on all my Garmins. I missed not having it on my ‘new’ Venu 2. I even e-mailed the developer. Well, today it was available. I downloaded it at once. As I knew it would, it looks great with the BRIGHT, AMOLED display.
But, I am faced with a dilemma. I am kind of quite partial to the new Logos 3 ALSO & it, as you can see above, gives me MORE data while being super-readable & easy on the eye. So! I don’t know.
Well, we knew it was coming. NOW it has come to pass. YOU need $6 reservations to go up Cadillac on wheels. BUMMER. There have been days when we have gone up 3-times in a day. Twice was more or less de rigeur. Once during the day & then last thing before we left the Park — or sometimes after dinner. SHAME. But, I understand. We have never got stuck in traffic but I have heard that it can be brutal.
Notice the Park Service has carved out ‘SUNRISE’ as a separate category. That is to cater for all those that are anxious to experience ‘first sunrise’ from Cadillac.
Well, I have good & bad news for them.
During the ENTIRE Summer, during 90% of the period covered by the $6 reservation system, ‘first sunrise’, in mainland U.S. CANNOT be seen from Cadillac! That is kosher. I would NOT joke about something as important as this.
You can ONLY see ‘first sunrise’, in mainland U.S., from Cadillac between October 7 & March 6. That is it.
So, ‘first sunrise’ is basically ONLY during off-season. How ironic. How cruel.
Yes, ‘first sunrise’ in mainland U.S., during the Summer, is visible from Maine — BUT not from the coast. SMILE. Yes, I know where to see it. Do you want to know. SMILE.
Yes, of course, I met him in the main parking lot at Fort Williams during our visit on Friday, May 28, 2021. Of course, I had to go see; of course, I had have a little chat. As soon as he spoke I knew he was Scottish. That to I, an adopted Scot of long standing, was a thrill. He is quite the artist & quite the man. Impressive.
Other than a very-credible self-portrait most of the work he had on display, quite rightly, had to do with Fort Williams & its iconic & historic lighthouse — the oldest in Maine. I liked his work so much that I bought two paintings.
I wanted to bring him to YOUR attention. Check him out. You will NOT be dissapointed.
As far as I am concerned Amazfit blew it. They had a great chance 2-years ago with the ‘Verge’ but their software, both on the APP & on the watch, were beyond autocious. They have managed to improve a BIT BUT I still see that they have issues — major issues.
Thus, Amazfit has become a 3rd-world watch — extremely popular, due to its flashy looks & relatively low prices, in India, China etc. It is not going to make it big in the U.S.
The soon to be announced Samsung Watch 4 & the rumored Google Pixel watch will further elbow them out of the U.S. market. No great loss.
But, if the price gets down to $55, which it very well could do, with the availability of the Samsung Watch 4, then it might be worth considering. SMILE.
Glorious displays of flowers in the Summer are one of the many attractions of this wonderful, FREE (bar the inexpensive parking), PUBLIC park. Well, it is still a tad early re. ‘Summer’ per se, but they still had quite a bit — & that is NOT counting the Lupins which I featured yesterday.
Her 2nd visit to ‘Fort Williams’. Her 1st visit was on Teischan’s 15th birthday, in March. It is close to a 2-hour drive but I custom fitted the cargo area of our new Volvo VC60 for her comfort & safety. Worked out. Did NOT hear a word from her in complain. She did bark a few times at people & dogs she spotted through the back window. So, it worked out.
Kind of funny. I wrote about this ascent & the lack of a picture of Edmund Hillary at the summit just 10-days ago.
I always remember that it was in 1953 since that was the year I was born. But, I was born in September. So, this happened just before I was born.
The key here is that we all now appreciate that this was the 1st CONFIRMED ascent. That is good. We might still get proof that George Mallory, in 1924, beat them to it.
It is also good that more & more places, like Wikipedia, have started listing Sherpa Tenzing Norgay AHEAD of New Zealander, Edmund Hillary. As Hillary himself, albeit quite late in his life, has confirmed Tenzing was LEADING when they reached the summit. Plus, we only have a picture of Tenzing at the summit.
