The Glorious Flowers Of ‘Fort Williams’ (Maine) NOT Including The Magnificent Lupins, May 28, 2021.

by Anura Guruge

Glorious displays of flowers in the Summer are one of the many attractions of this wonderful, FREE (bar the inexpensive parking), PUBLIC park. Well, it is still a tad early re. ‘Summer’ per se, but they still had quite a bit — & that is NOT counting the Lupins which I featured yesterday.

So, I wanted to share some with YOU. Enjoy.

‘Rowen’, Our Nearly 6-Month Newfoundland Puppy, Takes ‘Fort Williams’ (Maine) By Storm, May 28, 2021.

by Anura Guruge

Her 2nd visit to ‘Fort Williams’. Her 1st visit was on Teischan’s 15th birthday, in March. It is close to a 2-hour drive but I custom fitted the cargo area of our new Volvo VC60 for her comfort & safety. Worked out. Did NOT hear a word from her in complain. She did bark a few times at people & dogs she spotted through the back window. So, it worked out.

Today, May 29, 2021, Is the 68th Anniversary Of Tenzing Norgay & Edmund Hillary Conquering ‘Mount Everest’.

Kind of funny. I wrote about this ascent & the lack of a picture of Edmund Hillary at the summit just 10-days ago.

I always remember that it was in 1953 since that was the year I was born. But, I was born in September. So, this happened just before I was born.

The key here is that we all now appreciate that this was the 1st CONFIRMED ascent. That is good. We might still get proof that George Mallory, in 1924, beat them to it.

It is also good that more & more places, like Wikipedia, have started listing Sherpa Tenzing Norgay AHEAD of New Zealander, Edmund Hillary. As Hillary himself, albeit quite late in his life, has confirmed Tenzing was LEADING when they reached the summit. Plus, we only have a picture of Tenzing at the summit.
