Click to access my post and learn more about ‘Leap Days’.
How exciting. Another ‘Leap Day‘. At best, if we are lucky, we get them every 4-years. But, as you can see above, they will not get a ‘Leap Day‘ in 2100. Some of YOU might be around for that. Not that far ahead.
Last ‘Leap Day’, obviously, was 4-years ago, to the DAY, in 2016.
Got to go back a fair ways to find when the last ‘Leap Day’ was on a Saturday. Wow. 1992. I remember 1992. My son was born in May of that year.
Given that there is only so much news I can follow and process in a day, I had not paid much notice to snippets that I had seen about the Electoral College over the last few months. I was also under the belief that the chances of the Electoral College system being changed was pretty remote — especially under Trump.
But, the story from Nevada galvanised my interest and I took the time to read it. WOW. Steady on.
Yes, it is a long way from becoming a reality and it is bound to face enough legal challenges to stop it from being applicable in 2020. But, this sure is a start.
This is an initiative, much to my surprise (and delight) pre-dates the 2016 Trump election. Here is the list, prior to Nevada.

Debatable as to what was the more significant centennial — the one in July 2016 when it became a National Monument or toady, when it was upgraded to a National Park.
The ‘Park’ itself commemorated the 2016 birthday. That made sense. Becoming a National Monument meant that it got ‘National’ status and protection. Plus, it was in July which made it a great time to celebrate. A bit difficult to have a birthday celebration in Acadia at the end of February.
But, let’s mark both.

I used to post them on my then widely read but now defunct “Popes and Papacy” blog.
The Rome-based Catholic Press Photo, established over 40 years ago, now led by Alessia Giuliani, the daughter of one of the founders, has been a good friend. This gives me a chance to highlight their excellent work. Enjoy their pictures … especially those of the cardinals.
This year’s card comes with good wishes from Alessia, Monica, Giancarlo e Emanuela.
