This is wonderful news, though not that surprising given that the proposed law looked constitutionally suspect from the start.

To say I am RELIEVED would be the understatement of the day.

As I have tried to explain, until my poor testicle turned blue, my annoyance with the so called ‘Movement’ was that they were TRYING to free something AFTER they found out that it was already free.

That is like me trying to whip up support to free interracial marriage. You can’t free something that is already free, and agitating to free something that is free FREAKS out people.

We dodged a bullet. Let’s please stop the insanity. EXERCISE your FREEDOM. Don’t protest it.

The Female Nipple REMAINS FREE in New Hampshire. It is a GLORIOUS thing. Keep it that way. Don’t jeopardize the freedom.

Long Live The Free Nipple In New Hampshire and Everywhere.

I do NOT know the pros and cons of this BUT a quick scan of the Web relative to this Bill, i.e., HB 1614, indicates that the current, worldwide, thinking is that decriminalizing of prostitution is a POSITIVE thing. OK. I am fine with that.

It is just the contrast that upsets me. So we could now see an increase in prostitutes, of BOTH sexes in our few cities, BUT heaven forbid IF any of the females expose their nipples.

Just for completeness here is the start of HB 1525, the proposed law that will clamp down on the public display of the female nipple. Check this post, from January 12, 2016, for more on HB 1525.

Proposed New Hampshire Law To Take Away The Current FREEDOM Of “Free The Nipple”.

by Anura Guruge

It was the fear of this, i.e., NEW laws where prior laws did not exist precluding female toplessness, that made me turn my back on NH “Free The Nipple“. The nipple was FREE in NH, sans any laws, until these shortsighted folks started clamoring for freedom for something that was already free. Did not make sense.

Now, as I dreaded, three NH lawmakers, all from my county of Belknap, Messrs. Gallagher, Hurt and Spanos, and introduced N.H. House Bill (HB) 1525-FN, an act relative to the circumstances that constitute indecent exposure and lewdness.

I can appreciate the INTENT of the ‘IVNo school shall record in any way a school classroom for any purpose without school board approval … clause — the last clause of this Bill.

It is to prevent school ADMINISTRATIONS from conducting SURVEILLANCE on teachers. I can appreciate why teachers would object to that. But we will get to that later.

I am no lawyer BUT as I read this it states, very clearly, “NO SCHOOL …“.

It doesn’t mention individual students. Yes, there is the ‘blanket’ secret, non-consensual (tape) recording law. But, that does not apply if a student requests verbal permission and does the recording in full view.

Schools are interpreting HB 507, that came into effect this school year (i.e., 2015 – 2016), as meaning that kids, with a teacher’s approval, can’t use their ubiquitous phones to record what is being said in class.

Well here is the WRINKLE in that. Students with disabilities — the so called ‘Section 504‘ kids. They are protected by a whole different (federal) set of laws. IF the 504 states that the student needs to be able to record, audio or even video, all that transpires in a classroom the school and teachers have to acquiesce!

We know. We have a 504 child. And she wanted to record some of her classes so that she could re-run them, over and over again. The ‘school’ agreed. Then they came across HB 507. THEN they said, BUT if we put it in her 504 she will be all set.

This is STUPID.

Yes, we all understand that teachers do not want to be SPIED upon. Yes, I have taught.

But just last week we all saw that incident with the school girl getting FLIPPED off her chair and flung across the floor.

Click for ‘Boston Globe’ original IF you haven’t seen this before.

Aren’t WE all glad that 3 kids managed to capture this, on video, on their phones? Yes, I know that at least one kid is going to get charged for illegal recording. I saw her and her mother on CNN. They have NO regrets. They did the right thing.

We have cameras on school buses.

I think they have cameras on corridors [– but I could be wrong on that].

Don’t we ALL know, viscerally, that we will, as with the school buses, END UP having permanent, full-time cameras in all classrooms?

So this law has to be rethought.

You can clearly see that Clause IV was snuck in, most likely at the last minute, without too much thought OR consultation. Did they for a second think about the Section 504 override. I doubt IF there is a class in NH which does not have at least one Section 504 kid.

So, this is a Heads Up. No consequence to us. Our daughter, as of next week, when Deanna updates and signs the 504, will be able to record.

When we got home from the circus, and I had a chance to take a look at the $15 souvenir program (we always buy since Teischan likes to look at them on an ongoing basis), I was amazed and gratified to see this 2-page spread about what Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey are doing to help elephants in Sri Lanka. Yes. I am glad and happy. This is good. It will be a symbiotic effort. Sri Lanka sure can do with any financial help it can get when it comes to helping the elephants and in return they have centuries worth of hands-on experience on elephant husbandry that they can share.

I am somewhat au fait with all the programs that Ringling & Barnum have to help elephants. Yes, we have all watched “An Apology to Elephants” documentary. Yes, we know that they will be phasing elephants out of their circuses in the next two years. But as a search on my ‘elephant’ posts on this blog will show, I am not totally opposed to Ringling & Barnum having an elephant act. From what I can see they do seem to treat their elephants well and most of their elephants seem to be in great shape. I even talked about this yesterday.

“They”, i.e., Ringling & Barnum, are definitely on the offensive these days vocally defending their treatment of elephants. Watch Deanna’s YouTube video of the 7 minute elephant act on Sunday. They really laid it on thick. Again we have no gripes, as yet, with the elephant act. We all HATE the big cat act and I am not fond of the acts involving dogs, pigs and goats — but Deanna and the kids love those.
