Last Time Easter Was On April 4, As In 2021, Was In 2010 — 11-Years Ago.

When Easter has fallen & will fall.

Frequency of the year gaps between Easter on the same day.

Note that 11-years is the most common — & the ’11’ here has to do with the 7-days in a week coupled with leap-years every 4-years.

This table from Stjerneskinn.com.

Easter, your quintessential ‘movable feast’ can fall between March 22 (since it HAS to be after the Spring Equinox) and April 25 (i.e., essentially the 28-day lunar month).

So, this year’s April 4 Easter is towards the start of that range — actually quite early. Easter on April 4 hasn’t happened that often, though we have had it happen 3-times in 23-years.

April 4 is my eldest daughter’s birthday. She was born in 1989. So, she has had Easter on her birthday 3-times, counting this year

Easter is next Sunday.

Last time Easter was on a Sunday was last year. SMILE.

Gone. Go check.

You will not even find the last (exciting day) of the 4th South Africa v Australia Test that finished yesterday. I was lucky. I got to watch it last last night!

But, we are still paying the SAME.

I am going to research this more.

This should be illegal.

Cricket On Sling TV Has Been DECIMATED Following The Huge Outage — NO IPL, For A Start!

by Anura Guruge

Something BIG has happened at Sling TV — and the OUTAGE was related to it.

For a start, immediately after the outage CRICKET, from Willow, has been decimated on Sling TV.

I had seen the above announcement re. IPL, but that didn’t bother me much because I don’t normally watch the IPL. Actually I don’t watch any of the T20 Leagues.

But, I tried to watch Willow, on Sling TV, during my lunch — as is my wont.

There is hardly ANYTHING THERE! No South Africa v Australia 4th Test. I am SO LUCKY that I watched the 5th day last night.

This is BAD. Very BAD.

I don’t have time now, but I will look into this tonight.

Just a heads up.

Has Sling TV Been Hacked, And Hacked Badly — Hence The Huge, 16+ Hour Outage?

by Anura Guruge

Current, i.e., 12:45pm, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 message at “help.sling.com”.

The HUGE Sling TV outage continues.

It has now been over 16 hours for some.

I guess I lucked out that I got one hour of remission last night from 11:05pm till around 11:45pm. I stopped watching at that time.

Sling TV is down again THIS morning (when I last checked around 11:30am).

This is crazy.

I suspect that they have been HACKED, and hacked badly. That is the only thing that would, to I, explain an outage, of this magnitude, for this long.

Now hacking does NOT always have to be to STEAL data. It can be just to cause disruption (as in this case) or to try out techniques that can be used again, on a wider basis, at a later date. Sling TV is owned By DISH. This might have been an attempt to eventually take down DISH. Just think of the consequences if that happened a few days ahead of the November 2018 mid-term elections.

This is scary.

I suspect that this is MUCH WORSE than they will ever admit.

A service cannot be down for this long …

Huge Sling TV Outage On Tuesday, April 3, 2017 Spreading Into April 4.

by Anura Guruge

Curt message at ‘help.sling.com’.

This was around 12:45am, Wednesday, April 4, 2018. It was more widespread a couple of hours earlier.

This on Twitter, BUT also on Facebook. A lot of angry and unhappy customers.

In my case the ‘Sling TV‘ outage, on my Roku 3, was from 9:55pm to 11:05pm (Eastern) on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. But, from what I can glean from the Web it is still down for many — into Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

Ruined my night … as it did for many.

I was SO looking forward to watching the last day of the eventful 4th Test match between South Africa and Australia while I had my dinner.

Sat down with my dinner and fired up Willow TV, on Sling.

Program came up but there was no video. Waited, waited, waited … nothing. Tried a few other … nothing. After 10 minutes I knew something was wrong. Did all my diagnostics and recycling at my end. Nothing. Other Roku channels working FINE. Checked PC. Saw that others were also having issues.

So, I was forced to eat dinner watching the news! That was frustrating.

At 11:05 I tried again. It worked.

I got to see the highlights of the last day. Made my day.

So, heads up.

How Often Easter Falls On The Same Day — 1777 to 2076.

by Anura Guruge

I created an Excel spreadsheet and analysed the days for 300 years.

Easter per the Gregorian Calendar can fall between
March 22 and April 25.

Easter 2016 on a March 27 is special. Next one will be 2157.

13 times is the MOST it has happened on a given day in that 300 year period: March 31, April 5 & April 16.

It has fallen 11 times each on six separate days, all of them in April: 1, 6, 10, 11, 12 & 17.

10 times on 9 days: March 27, April 4, April 8, April 14 – 15, April 18 – 21.

Never fallen 12 times or 6 times!

Easter 2016 — On Sunday March 27 Is Very Special … Last In YOUR Lifetime!

by Anura Guruge

As some of you know I am intrigued by dates and names and have an incurable addiction for computer-aided (i.e., Excel spreadsheet powered) analysis of dates and names. And as addictions go this is pretty inexpensive, other than in my time, and harmless (though my other addiction, compulsive options trading, takes hardly any time and always makes money).

Well I had created a small spreadsheet to do the Purim and Easter one day apart in 2016 post. And having any type of spreadsheet with dates is a very dangerous thing to I — as the addiction kicks in like a mule on steroids. So yesterday, unable to resist, I populated a new page of that spreadsheet with the Dates of Easter for 300 years (1777 – 2076). It was fun. I then crunched them this-way and that and that even more fun. Yes, I will regale you with data, analysis and charts in the coming days.

Part of the analysis I did was when Easter cycles back to the same day — given that I have two daughters with birthdays in the Easter period, March 22 and April 4. March 22nd is the EARLIEST that Easter can happen and the last time it fell on March 22 was 1818. The next time it will fall on March 22 is in 2285. So Teischan will never celebrate a birthday on Easter. On the other hand Danielle has already had two birthdays on Easter, 1999 & 2010, and will have a third in 2021.

Easter falls 3.3 times more often in April than in March. Plus (as I have found) there are a few prominent repetition cycles for the days: 11, 46, 57 and 141 — 11 the most prevalent.

Danielle’s April 4th is right now in the midst of a 11-year cycle — 1999, 2010, 2021.

Easter on March 27 has happened 10 times in the 300 years (1777 – 2076): 1785, 1796, 1842, 1853, 1864, 1910, 1921, 1932, 2005 & 2016.

So the repetition cycles were: 11, 46, 11, 11, 46, 11, 11, 73, 11.

So yes, Easter 2005 was on March 27.

So there could be people who have seen Easter on a March 27th in 1921, 1932 & 2005. (I think 1910 is close to the upper limit).

So much more over the next few days.

Isn’t this fun. I am, truth be known, very thankful that I am addicted to analyzing dates. It could be much, much worse. SMILE.

Happy Easter. This one is very special. ENJOY.

Basically a bad repetition of what happened to us in New Hampshire in October 2014 when we had the last ‘Blood Red‘ moon. We had a bad storm.

Saturday, April 4, 2015 (my daughter Danielle’s birthday) will be cloudy and rainy for much of the day — with the rain forecast to end around noon. But that will be way too late for us to see the eclipse. The eclipse, which will only last 4 minutes and 43 seconds for U.S. Eastern Seaboard viewers, starts at 6:16 AM Eastern time.

98% chance that we will have rain and clouds around that time. Shame.
