York Minster‘ is one of my FAVORITE cathedrals in the whole world. Though called ‘Minster’ it is a bona fide cathedral, the seat of the Archbishop of York. The ‘Minster’ refers to it having been a scholarly missionary teaching church way back. I have spent a lot of time in this Minster, sometimes going for evensong in the evening.

I left the U.K. in 1985. So, I didn’t get to visit it right after the fire.

But, I visited it often between 1989 and 1999. It was pristine by then. I don’t think the damage was as extensive as what has befallen Notre Dame. But, I could be wrong on that.

So, there is always hope and with money, perseverance and skill you can restore these old MARVELS.
