The Nazi, Adolf Eichmann, One Of The Architects Of The Holocaust, Was Hanged This Day 55-Years Ago — In Israel.

by Anura Guruge

One of the worst among what was a sorry cabal of murderers and thugs. He joined the Nazis when 26. He was hanged 30 years later.

Being the coward he was he fled Germany in 1945 as the end was near. Israel’s Mossad located and captured him in Argentina in 1960.

He was supposed to be hung by 11:59pm on March 31. But, they had some technical difficulties and the execution did not take place till June 1. Some sources still have March 31, 1962 as the date of his death.

Acadia National Park: New, Impressive Visitor Center In Schoodic.

by Anura Guruge

Click pictures to ENLARGE.

This new Visitor Center, opened on September 1, 2015,
is near the start of the ‘Schoodic Peninsula Loop Road’.
It is actually in the newly constructed
‘Schoodic Woods Campground’.
As such it is easy to overlook —
which would be a shame.

Taken with my new
 Nikon P900.

Attribution WILL be enforced.

It was our first time to this center. We had been to Schoodic during our June 2015 visit but had not gone over in September 2015 or July 2016.

Much of the signage focuses (probably rightly) on the Campground rather than the Visitor Center. Very attractive and blends in real nicely with the landscape. Very considerate towards the canine visitors as you can see from two of the photos (and I must confess I had never seen a ‘Canine Hitch’ before).

Nice relief map of the area inside (as you can see from one of the pictures). Bit sparse but for that. But that is OK. There were three rangers when we stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, and, as ever, they were helpful enough. Kind of funny. Without coming out point blank and asking they were, nonetheless, very keen to find out whether we had BOUGHT a pass to visit the Park. [Yes, we had, a Senior Pass to befit my senior years.] They really do need the money. They use a dial-up line to process their credit-card purchases and it is the same line that they use for incoming calls! If a call comes in the credit-card transaction gets voided and has to be reprocessed. And this is in 2016 — albeit, quite literally, ‘in the sticks’, if not ‘in the woods itself’.

Glad we went. So Schoodic now has two centers. This new Visitor Center and the beautiful ‘Schoodic Education and Research Center‘ — originally a John D. Rockefeller Jr. sponsored ‘hall’ designed by one of his favorite architect’s, New York’s Grosvenor Atterbury who also designed all of the gatehouses for Rockefeller on the ‘Mount Desert Island’ side.

I did not request the ‘right to know’ letter shown below containing this incendiary information.

The letter, with the ‘contact information’ blacked out (for obvious reasons), was delivered to our doorstep Saturday morning [along with two, HUGE, frozen venison burgers].

The SAU and ‘those that care’ in Alton know who requested this information. We, for two, thank that person for the continued vigilance.

WOW!

$32,585.08
between just
July 1, 2013 and October 28, 2013.

So that is not even for YTD 2013. So for all we know he could have got paid a similar amount or more for ‘his immaculate, holy presence‘ between January 1, 2013 and July 1, 2013.

That our richly compensated and as such ‘nose in the air’ Superintendent claims that he is ‘unaware’ is quite RICH! If we are paying the architect $273.82 a DAY, shouldn’t the Superintendent, William (‘Bill’) P. Lander, have some idea as to when he visits the school? But, there is a pattern here, with this Superintendent — post 1 & post 2. As you can see from those posts, “I don’t know” or “I can’t do that” are phrases he utters often — which is very incongruous given his bearing — at least towards me and my wife.

Kind of sad. ACS can’t afford a full-time Resource Officer but we can pay $32,585.08 to an architect — BECAUSE from what it says in this letter he gets 8% of ALL Board Approved construction work performed at the school!

Think about that. So all that renovation that was done during the Summer. He got 8% of that though it really didn’t require any architectural input.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Even without me, they can still be awesome. A true IT giant. A U.S. treasure.

This whole disaster, as I keep on pointing out, smacks so much of outright, unmitigated fraud.

It also highlights, indubitably, that Obama is beyond incompetent. He is a disaster. Yes, I now agree. Worst President ever and I AM VERY SORRY that I worked like a black to have him elected and re-elected. Yes, I had my doubts. I am, to the amazement and distress of some, an unashamed Hans Eysenck acolyte — he at his peak in Britain as I was growing up. So, I was worried that he might not be able to cope. BUT, I never, ever, imagined that he would prove to be such as total and utter disaster, an unmitigated failure. I am SORRY. I will not, for the rest of my life, make that mistake again.

Other than because of outright corruption and fraud why would you give such a crucial, multi-million, possibly multi-billion contract to BIT PLAYER IT companies — especially the Canadian-owned CGI with its horrible track-record.

Kickbacks and payola.

Where is Bryan ‘bloody’ Sivak 00 the supposed architect of this tower that collapsed. Why isn’t he being hauled up and investigated. I see that he has stopped Tweeting. Might have FLED the country to avoid having to answer awkward question.

Notice that when they talk about the scam-artist contractors involved in this disaster you don’t hear the names of GREAT U.S. IT Super-GIANTS like IBM, Oracle, EDS, Cisco, HP.

All you hear is bloody Canadian CGI.

Do YOU realize that the world, and that includes China, Korea, India, Germany, France, Britain, are LAUGHING, near hysterically, at the U.S.

This is such an insult to U.S. IT companies and people.

As I have been lobbying since 1988, IT is the ONE Technology Sphere where the U.S. has no equal.

AirBus now competes with Boeing.

Hyundai/Kia and is eating GM’s lunch.

But when it comes to IT, Intel, Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco, IBM, Facebook, Linkedin, Groupon, Twitter, Amazon, has NO COMPETITION.

U.S. IT is the envy of the universe.

And now this. I always knew that Eysenck was onto something.

IBM is by no means perfect (after I left). But, IBM doesn’t screw up like CGI. IBM has pedigree and with that pride.

What about EDS?

Obama is so stupid and corrupt.

I am SORRY.

Alton, NH, $18.6 Million School ‘Renovation’ Bond Fails To Pass. Just 48.4% ‘Yes’. So What Is The ‘Plan B’ Now?

The vote for the $18.6 M bond failed to get even 50% of the vote.

No = 731, Yes = 685.

Total votes cast = 1,416.

Yes % = 48.38%.

So not even 50%.

So what now, mad cow? What is ‘Plan B’. Prior to the deliberative session I advocated the need for a ‘Plan B’. But, people thought they knew better. Well … what now, mad cow?

Everybody agrees, vehemently, that something has to be done to fix the issues at the school. I have yet to meet anybody who disagrees with the need for some renovation. The issue has been the price tag.

That is why I was an open supporter of Steve Miller’s $7 Million bond proposal.

Those that zeroed it down. What now, mad cow?

I have already heard that the new ‘Plan B’ is to try again for the $18 M bond next year. Tell me that that is a joke.

Already we are close to the definition for insanity. Repeatedly doing the same thing HOPING for a different outcome.

Well we know who put the school and kids in this sorry situation. Those that just could not see in them a way to compromise. I hope some have the decency to resign from the various boards and let some new folks come up with some new proposals that can get the votes. Our kids deserve better.

Steve Miller said it so well. They were going on
ONE ROLL OF THE DICE

The dice as it did last year did not come up the way they wanted.

Time for a realistic proposal that can get the votes.

To Read Steve Miller’s Letter In ‘The Baysider’ — Jan. 21, 2013.

I attended today’s deliberative session at Prospect Mountain High School kind of against my own better judgement because I know how these things drag out, pan out and I really am very short on time. But, I am glad I went. According to my friend, Bob Longabaugh, the keeper of Alton’s voting statistics, only 172 of the 4,022 registered voters (4.28%) attended this session.

Well, it appears that the backers of the full $18.6 Million bond have the requisite 60%(+) votes in the bag already and that today’s session was just a formality to let people have a say in public. Bravo.

I am NOT surprised. Last year I was told that they had the votes to pass the warrant, even with the faulty wording, and even force the necessary hearing by a judge. I heard this from multiple informed sources, without equivocation. So, I was kind of baffled when it didn’t pass. But, I worked it out. They held their fire [i.e., vote] realizing that the faulty wording required the uncertainty of a judge’s intervention.

So, this year, with the warrant in place, without encumbrances, they will pull the voters out of the hat to get it to pass.

OK. That is good. As school board member Steve Miller, who was as ever eloquent and impressive, noted, we will just have to pay the higher taxes. C’est la vie. Fait accompli.

That they have the votes already and the deal is done is good for the kids. They will now get the $17 Million school upgrade that they have been clamoring for so long. You have to congratulate them on their tenacity, persistence, doggedness and ultimately their SUCCESS. I tip my hat to them.

The reason I am now 120% sure that they already have the necessary votes pledged, in the bag and locked-up is that they made sure that there was NO OTHER choice. No ‘Plan B’, no contingency plan. If this, for some reason, doesn’t get the votes …

Steve Millers $7 Million proposal to zeroed down to $1 — something Steve expected from the start.

An alternate amendment to change the $18.8 M to $4.x Million also failed.

So, there is no contingency plan, of any sort.

That is never my way. I am Mr. Contingency. I don’t even sneeze without having a contingency plan! I am not joking. Yes, I can think fast. Before I sneeze I have a contingency plan to recover from what could go wrong. When I was in high tech, those that knew me well used to joke that I had contingency plans for my contingency plans. In the 600 or so seminars I have done around the world you would never have seen me struggle like they did earlier in the meeting with their PowerPoint presentation. Even when we used 35mm slides and projectors, not only would I have two projectors, but 3 bulbs in my trousers. That debacle with the PowerPoint alone should have been an object lesson, am omen, as to why you always need contingency plans. But, that is me. [Plus, I have never done a PowerPoint that didn’t have a single graphic! A renovation presentation with no pictures! Screen placement and zooming such that it could only be read by 40% of the audience. It was the 1970s when we typed presentations onto foils. Never mind the mike that didn’t work.]

Contingency plans give you flexibility.

I have rarely seen unanimity as I saw today at the session. Everybody was in violent agreement that SOMETHING had to be done to fix the manifold problems at ACS. All the discussion was about how much should be spent.

It reminded me of the joke of a man propositioning this lady of dubious character at a bar and the conversation going: ‘we have already established that you would do it; all we are doing now is trying to agree on a price’.

The price has been agreed $18.6 Million.

No other alternatives. No other options. No other choices.

So there can be NO POSSIBILITY of this failing. If so our poor kids are screwed, totally. That is not acceptable and nobody wanted that.

ONE ROLL OF THE DICE
— but luckily for us, the dice are already loaded,
right?

This is a sure thing? Right?

The Baysider might as well already write the story that the $18.6 Million bond passed with 65% of the vote. They might as well start work now.
