There is as you will see if you read either of the stories or watch the YouTube a purpose for this contest. It was not all for titillation and salaciousness. They were looking for MODELS. And that makes sense.

As I did comment on this post to do with the “30 foot Wall of Vaginas”, vaginas do come in very different shapes, sizes, looks and configurations — and that is just in terms of external appearance. I am by no means an expert given I have only seen one or two at most (and at this point my wife Deanna, if she reads this, will scream at me) but I do know that some vaginas are definitely more attractive (and as such aesthetically more appealing) than others. I am not going to go into this (and I assure you that no pun was intended there) but there are some …

Anywho. Check it out.

Why Oh Why Did They Make The Canon PowerShot G3X So Ugly?

That 20% uncertainty on my part as to getting a Canon G3X, that I talked about 2 days ago, is in my world a pretty BIG margin of latitude. I am still struggling mightily, within that 20% wiggle-room, as to whether I will be happy with the Canon G3X.

If nobody else will say it I will say it. I struggle with the fact that it is not an attractive camera. Actually it is a pretty ugly looking beast, made worse when you stick on the external, viewfinder. It then looks like something that was really badly cobbled together. It sure does NOT look like a $1,240 top-end camera.

Yes, I readily admit that I like attractive things — hence my Jaguars, my watches, my dogs! I don’t have to go further.

John Keats, the poet, in 1818, said in the opening line of one of his poems: “A thing of beauty is a joy forever”. Fifty years ago, as a boy growing up in Ceylon, that was one of the first English ‘sayings’ I had to learn. It resonated with me, and it often comes to mind. “A thing of beauty is a joy forever”. Well you will be hard pressed to call the Canon G3X a thing of beauty.

Don’t kid yourself. People notice the camera you use. Since I have been using the Canon T3i I can’t tell you the number of people who have asked me whether I was a photographer or commented on the camera. The G3x looks like a 1980s, $12 Kodak box camera. It sure does NOT look like a $1,240 top-end camera. Did I already say that.

Quite A Weekend For Aston Martin. I Was Just Visiting Them To Oggle The New ‘Rapide S’.

>> The Aston Martin ‘Ad’ … — Mar. 24, 2013.

This weekend’s ‘Market Watch‘ had a rave article about the Aston Martin ‘Rapide S’. Called it a beauty. I always find it pleasing (and encouraging) when U.S. media appreciates the beauty of our cars — rather than just our Royals and film stars.

I get regular e-mails from Bentley — because about 12 years ago I wrote a case study on them. Aston Martin, knowing that I am so far from their target demographics as the Earth is from the Oort cloud, quite rightly keeps me in the dark. But I wanted to see more of this beauty because I really do like Aston’s though I have never even sat in one.

I went and was greeted by this black screen. Wow. That was news to me. I don’t follow the Le Mans. Not sure if I ever did though I used to follow F-1. I was impressed. That showed class, though I think they could have done it better. The text is so small. Plus, they didn’t actually give you a way to enter the site after that! That is not good. I had to get in via a Google link.

They still have the black screen today at 'astonmartin.com'.

Here is one video from YouTube of the crash. Lots more. Very strange.

Shame about Allan Simonsen, 34. Always unsettling to hear of race car drivers driving. Very strange accident.  He went off the track on his own. Mechanical failure? Busted strut? Did he have a medical condition. Don’t know.

But Aston Martin, as it says TODAY, on the black screen, came in 3rd. Well, that isn’t good. If you don’t win Le Mans … just don’t say anything and try again next year.

And now for this absolutely, near perfect beauty. Why somebody would buy a German car IF they could afford this is always mystery to me (especially if you are Jewish, and here I am referring to a Jewish friend of mine, who was very committed to the ‘Jewish’ cause, BUT would boast that he had $72,000 of German cars sitting on his driveway and this was in 1992).

It is permissible to drool. Click to ENLARGE.

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette ‘C7’ — designed from scratch to be a convertible. Now that is a real sports car.

Though I grew up on British sports cars, Triumph Spitfires, TR7, MGs and the like, I gained a real liking for GM Camaros, Firebirds and Corvettes once I git here. Owned quite a few Camaros and brilliant, green convertible Firebird — one of the first to have traction control (so I could drive it in the snow in NH).

I, alas, have only had one Corvette. A bright yellow, 1995 convertible. I actually bought it for my oldest daughter Danielle in 2000. I gave it to her when she turned 16. She drove it a little and then, quite wisely, said she wanted to sell it and get a new car. We did that. The Corvette had appreciated and by a rare stroke of luck they had sold me an extended bumper-to-bumper warranty (with towing included) so the maintenance didn’t cots me much. It wasn’t the most reliable car I have owned, but it was fun.

I don’t like non-convertible sports car. So many of the recent Corvettes had no appeal to me. But, I really do like this new one.
