Their 16th annual Fair from what I gather,
and I think we have been to the last 6 or 7 (maybe more).

Visiting “Sawyers Holiday Open House” in Barnstead, NH (next to the White Church) has now become an entrenched & mandatory Thanksgiving weekend tradition — and I think we have been going to it, without fail, for quite a few years — and always enjoy the experience. Very rewarding. Great people. Salt of the Earth.

So, it was on our lists of things to do after Thanksgiving. This year it was the first thing we did on Black Friday!

A wonderful, uplifting tradition. Such a tranquil and picturesque setting. I love wandering around snapping pictures.

Thank YOU the Sawyer family and their vendors.

Click to access this post and read what I have said about the FitBit Versa 2.

From what I can see it is going to be mayhem in terms of ‘price cutting’ over the next 5-days — BUT, if you are after a Garmin, Fitbit or Polar, ALWAYS, but ALWAYS, start off with HRM USA. You cannot go wrong with HRM USA. Exceptional customer care, 45-day returns and UPGRADE plans.

So, check them out and do yourself a favor.

Garmin Vivoactive 3, In Slate, Slated To Be Available In 2 – 3 Weeks NOW Further Delayed!

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE and stare at in disbelief! From Garmin @ buy.garmin.com

I check availability of the Garmin Vivoactive 3 — in SLATE — multiple times a day.

It was supposed to be available last Friday, October 20, 2017. But, only the stainless steel is currently available.

Even last night Garmin was claiming 2 – 3 week availability.

This morning they updated that to 3 – 5 weeks. NOT good. That puts it at or BEYOND Black Friday and close to Christmas.

I Am Trading In My 5.5 Month Old Sony a6000 At Amazon.

by Anura Guruge

All packed, ready to be dropped off at UPS Store in Concord, NH, on Thursday, May 4, 2017.

Arrival of the Sony a6000 kit, from ‘Cardinal Photo’, on November 16, 2016.

I got the kit, on a pre-‘Black Friday’ steal, for $699.

See this post.

The Sony a6000, was ALWAYS, going to be temporary.

The plan, as of October 2016, was to get Sony a6500 — when it became available in mid-December 2016. I can demonstrate that! {SMILE}

I didn’t end up getting a6500 because I was in the throes of writing my ‘Central Pain Syndrome‘ book. I wanted to finish that book before I got another new camera.

So now is the time, though I have already started working on my NEXT book.

Yes, I am still going to get a Sony a6500 BUT not for another couple of weeks.

I am first going to get a Sony a7II. Yes, I am going Full-Frame. A bucket-list wish.

Then I am getting a6500 to be my compact for shows, concerts, circuses etc.

Amazon is promising me $476 for the trade-in as you can see from the first image.

But, they invariably reduce that offer once they have the camera. I am expecting around $420.

So, I paid $699 and will get back $420.

So having the Sony a6000 for 5 and a half-months would have cost me $279.

That comes to $1.65 a day!

And nobody, but nobody could say I did NOT use that camera.

I took 11,684 pictures with the a6000 during those 169 days — in addition to using my Nikon P900 on some days.

That says I paid $0.02 per picture.

So, I am happy.

Hoping to have the Sony a7II next week and the Sony a6500 at the end of the month. There is a show we are going to in early June.

Bad Enough Getting A Sony a6500, But I Am Getting A Sony a6000 Into The BARGAIN!

by Anura Guruge

Click these images to ENLARGE.

arrangedmarriageNo, no, no {SMILE} the pressure of being forced into an arranged marriage with a Sony a6500 has not made me FLIP!

This was all rather calculated and opportunistic.

Two major factors at play:

  1. I have no lenses at all, never mind any Sony e-mount lenses. So I need some lenses.
  2. I was going to rent a Sony a6300, before buying the a6500, to get familiar with how these cameras work,

Then I had seen the “Black Friday” special that said you could get a Sony a6000, with two lenses (the ones that I wanted), i.e., the 16-50mm and 55-210mm, for $699.

I did some sums. If I factor in the cost of the rental (never mind the hassle of going to a FedEx office to return it), I could get a Sony a6000 body for $145!

The Sony a6000 body RETAILS for $478!

Kind of like a no brainer!

When I am researching a camera I am diligent. I check all my sources regularly.

Friday night noticed that ‘Cardinal Photo’, on Amazon, was offering the a6000/16-50mm/55-210mm KIT, supposedly new, at $699. That is cheaper than what Amazon had fro REFURBISHED.

Then the listing went away.

Later on Saturday I found it again.

Called Amazon. Spoke with ‘Andre’. Got an e-mail from him ASSURING me that the Cardinal Kit would be BRAND NEW and that I could return it, if it was not …

I even called up Cardinal Photo …

I placed the order. Remember I had returned my Samsung NX500. So I had money ‘in the bank’.

So … stay tuned.

Canon Mirrorless EOS M5 Availability Date Set.

by Anura Guruge

November 30, 2016, is stated as the shipping date both in Japan & the U.S. — by Amazon.

Not clear whether that means, if you are Amazon Prime and have pre-ordered, it will get to you on Wednesday, November 30 or whether that is the day that Amazon will ship it out for it to get to you, with luck, December 2.

One intriguing question is whether anybody, let’s say ‘Best Buy‘, will get tempted to offer a M5 deal on ‘Black Friday‘ or ‘Cyber Monday‘. I am going to wait, though I will order via Discover with their 90-day price match.

On Amazon today, ‘Black Friday’ 2015. Click to access Amazon listing.

I got this e-mail from NH PBS this morning. I have had it before.
So their price is $90 more — BUT I understand and appreciate that that INCLUDES PBS Sponsorship.

Well I do NOT have to make up my mind today, ‘Black Friday‘.
I know that the two girls (but NOT Deanna) will insist that $30 is WELL WORTH it even if they get to see
Season 6 1 day early! So I will have to see.

Just a heads up in case you were also interested.

These discounts are REAL. BuyDig.com right now, and I bought my last two cameras (in the last few months) from BuyDig, has the above Nikon D3200 at $446. They have a refurbished at $360.

They have a Samsung NX1 with 16-50mm lens for $1,298. That is $400 off.

From what I can see BuyDig is matching the Olympus prices on Amazon.

IF you are in the market for a camera check these deals.

I really DON’T need another new camera right now — or at least that is what I keep on telling myself right now. I REALLY am going to try and wait for the Fuji X-T2. The X-T2 really appears to be a great match for me. Now … if I see a X-T1 cheap. Deanna will give me HECK but I don’t think she will divorce me over a camera. She knows that if cameras are my ONLY WEAKNESS in my old age, given my track record, that she is doing fine.

$1,399! Hmmmm. $300 off.
