Template-Based ‘Site123’ Website Builder Is Different To Others — & Kind Of Grows On You.

by Anura Guruge

Click image to access the ‘Site123’ Website.

It is an Israeli outfit that started in c. 2016. So, not that old, & I kind of think that they are not that well known. But, that could change.

I am YET AGAIN looking around for a decent Website builder — with exceptional blogging capabilities, outside of WordPress. I have kind of had it with WordPress (& some of its limitations).

I have been playing around on ‘Site123‘ today. Kind of impressed & humbled. Yes, quite idiosyncratic — to say the least, but kind of in a good way.

They specialize in ONE-PAGE Websites — everything just added to the bottom of the page, ALBEIT with MENU BAR navigation to all the subpages so to speak. But, you can create multi-page sites too or even cuter a combination of both. That kind of gets powerful quick, especially as you can select what is shown in the NAVIGATION.

Everything has to be per their prebuilt templates & layouts — BUT they have quite a selection, with some degree of customization possible. I have only used the site for about 2-hours. I, however, have liked what I have seen.

If I go with them, you will, of course, here much more about them. It would be the ultimate accolade for them. SMILE.

I Explain, In My New ‘Next Pope’ Blog, Why Cardinal Robert Sarah Is Not & Never Was A Realistic Papabile.

by Anura Guruge

I started this ‘Next Pope’ blog last week. Still working on it. So, far I have only managed three post, this post about ‘Robert Sarah‘ the third. I am NOT going to reproduce these posts on this blog too. I want you to get in the habit of going to that blog for future ‘Next Pope‘ posts. OK.

But, until you get into the hang of that. I do NOT want you to miss any of these ‘Next Pope’ posts.

COVID-19 Specific Post For The ‘Atoll’ iSUP Blog — That I Co-Wrote With Atoll’s Own Wiley Wise.

by Anura Guruge

Click image to access the Atoll blog with this COVID-19 post.

Click to ENLARGE. The first 3 paras. You might relate. SMILE.

This is my 3rd or 4th post on this blog. As some of you know I became a very proud & satisfied Atoll iSUP owner and paddler last year.

I, as is often the case, LUCKED out in getting to know ‘Wiley Wise‘, the co-founder of Atoll. He invited me to write some posts along with him. It has been fun.

This post is worth reading.

iSUP paddle boarding is a sure way to beat the quarantine blues and stay/get FIT at the same time.

Think about it.

Fresh air. The gentle lap of the water. Tranquility. Serenity. You can’t beat it. Beats running.

Read it. I elaborate. No point going over all of it again. SMILE. Thanks.

‘Atoll’ Publishes An Article By I, On Their Blog, On Using An Electric Pump To Inflate My iSUP.

by Anura Guruge

Click image to access my article, with pictures of me using the pump, on the ‘Atoll Board’ blog.

I am always game to write about products or things I like, I use with relish or I care about. This electric pump, for my 11′ Atoll iSUP definitely fell into that category. It made using the iSUP that much easier and faster. I can’t imagine inflating my iSUP without this pump. So, I wanted to make sure others heard about my v. positive experience and how I felt.

Luckily the (very friendly) Atoll team were more than happy to indulge I. So, here it is. Yes, there are pictures on this blog of me using the pump. But, now you can see them in a different setting. Enjoy. SMILE.

Very First Post,
June 30, 2009.

Yes, I know that others have millions of followers. Well, I don’t. I finally got up to 500. I am happy with that. To I that is a big number. That said, just the other day I was telling a friend of Facebook that the largest group to whom I have given a presentation was 670. That was a long time ago, in Glasgow to boot. So, I can kind of visualize 500 people.

It wasn’t that long ago, maybe 4-years, when I had less than hundred.

I am very grateful and honored.

THANK YOU to all that follow this blog. Much appreciated. I will continue to do my utmost to elucidate and entertain each and every one of YOU. You are my BASE. Thank YOU.

“Ready Brain” — A Great Website To Help You Keep Your Brain Stimulated.

by Anura Guruge

Click on image to access the ‘Ready Brain’ Website cum blog.

The creator of this fun & stimulating Website, Larry Mager, sent me an e-mail last week about his Website and how it came to be.

To quote Larry: “After being laid off from my teaching job several years ago, I was pretty low. I’d lost a job I loved, and didn’t know what I was going to do next.

But then a funny thing happened. My neighbor came to me desperate to find a tutor for her son. I offered my services as a temporary solution. Fast forward two years later and I’m running my own tutoring business and making progress with my mental fitness website, Readybrain.net.

I’ve never been happier, and I want to help those going through a tough spot in their careers feel like I do“.

I sure like what Larry is doing.

His premise is the same as my “A ‘Think’ A Day, Keeps Alzheimer’s At Bay” books. He even talks about it, on his home page, using terminology similar to what I advocate. So, yes, I am very happy and delighted to be able to promote this effort. Great job, Larry.

I like the Sudoku. I don’t know how to play Blackjack (and, alas, there are no instructions as yet) but it looks interesting. You definitely should explore this Website. You will find it rewarding.

WordPress.com Totally Screws Up ‘Copy A Post’ Feature — Which Worked Great For Years!

by Anura Guruge

I use the WordPress ‘Copy a Post’ feature EVERYDAY — multiple times a day. Actually, I hardly ever create a ‘New Post’ from scratch. I always use a prior post as a template — and do so by COPYING it. Has worked fine for years. It was one of the more powerful capabilities of WordPress.

There was absolutely NOTHING wrong with it. It worked fine. ‘Copy a Post’ appeared as an option, on the left hand-side menu bar under ‘Posts’. You clicked on that and you got a list of all your recent posts plus a built-in search capability. Just select a prior post and off you went.

Then about 5 days ago the ‘Copy a Post’ option disappeared, without any explanation.

As a 10-year veteran of WordPress I knew others ways to copy a post. I did that.

Next day, WordPress was FORCED to add the EXPLANATION BOX highlighted in the above image. We didn’t need this. We had been doing fine. Doing GREAT.

Why fix something that definitely was NOT broken? Typical WordPress. Just can’t leave a good-thing alone.

Well, there must have been an outcry. The NEXT DAY they went back and reinserted the ‘Copy a Post’ option in the menu, BUT it did not work like before. Idiots.

I do despair of WordPress.com. They just insist on breaking what were perfectly good features.

This Is The 10,009 Published Post On This Blog — Yes, I Have Gone Past The 10,000 Post Mark.

by Anura Guruge

Very First Post,
June 30, 2009.

9 Years, 7 months & 11 days.

3,512 days.

10,009 POSTS.

I had been blogging, daily, on my ‘Pope’ blogs a couple of years prior to starting this blog. Those days I used multiple blogging platforms … before eventually standardizing everything on WordPress.

I started this blog, in June 2009, because I was beside myself that I had been raped by ‘Dartmouth Hitchcock‘ (DHMC). I wanted to publicize my grievances. I only did 2 posts that year. I did NOT do any 2010 & did 3 in 2011. So, basically 2009 to 2012 this blog was dormant. It was 2012, and really the August 2012 Olympics in London, that I really started blogging here. So, in reality this blog is less than 7-years old. Does not matter.

10,000 posts is a fairly respectable number. Yes, I probably have about 20 guest posts. But, I have also deleted at least 40 posts that I have written. So, I am cool with the 10,000 posts. I know I have done at least 10,000 on this blog.

If I use the June 2009 start date it still averages out at 3 posts a day. I am cool with that. These days, that is typically my minimum, one post each day, for the last few years, being my 7-pictures of the day.

The question is will I make it to 20,000. I haven’t really thought about it.

But, here is to the 1st 10,000 posts on this BLOG. Cheers.

Over the years I have had
