Of course all Christmas parades, by definition, are good. So that was the case here too though it lacked some of the key elements we had come to expect of late — viz. NO Kingswood High School Band led by Bobby Burns, NO Wolfeboro trademark large ‘puppets’ and NO Mrs. Claus. Yes, it was a dank & dreary day — more like Hampshire (in England) in November as opposed to New England. Last year we sloshed through snow. This year rain.

It was a new bachelor Santa with no Mrs. Yes, somebody very kindly gave me the low down BUT I am not going to divulge it. Personal. Just that we are so used to seeing BOTH Mr. & Mrs. It was still fun. Not sure why it was not up to the usual snuff. Could be the weather. The band might not have wanted to perform in the rain — given the damage it could do to the expensive instruments. But here are some of the pictures. Enjoy. It was good to see a LOT of people we knew.

Merry Christmas.

“The Cate Park Band” (led by our friend Bobby Burns)
playing an upbeat, rousing medley of popular songs (inc. some movie hits)
was on the mark and just what was needed. Bravo.

The fireworks were “OK”. Par for the course for central NH.
The usual ’20 minutes’ of desultory single shot, not very high grade fireworks,
compensated by a ‘4 minutes’ bang-bang-bang finale.
But any firework display, by definition, is ‘good’.

So it was FUN. A good evening out. Good crowd. Everybody was happy.
Rain had cleared. The temperature was just right if you had a ‘T’ under your shirt.
Wolfeboro, as ever, did you proud.

A good 4th of July.

We were so glad to hear that they rescheduled the concert from Saturday, due to the storm,
because we really wanted to go and couldn’t do so on Saturday given
the conflict with the Clearlakes Chorale concert
(given that Devanee sings in that).

It was impressive as we had expected. We went last year, for the first time, and liked what we saw and heard.

Glad we went.

Yes, we know Bobby Burns the Music Director and Conductor as well as a couple of the kids
since they also sings with Clearlakes.

These kids are good and so is Robert Burns
(and yes, he is named after the Great Man).

It always amazes me how the prosperity and pedigree of Wolfeboro, the Oldest Summer Resort in the U.S.,
is, unmistakably, reflected by these kids, the staff and the opulent setting.

Yet again, BRAVO Wolfeboro.

Two, possibly three, choir pieces were Acapella since Robert wanted to showcase the
voices of the kids sans help from a piano. It worked and it was good.

Robert wanted us to savor and appreciate some ‘crunchy melodies‘. We did.

The percussion African, ‘Kila Jambo Na Wakate Wake‘, with a Kenyan Kingswooder (new to the school this year)
on drums was good and reminded me of this piece from ‘Christmas at Luther‘.

The Concert Band belies their age and experience. They played some long pieces — very professionally.
A great credit to them, the staff, Bobby Burns and Wolfeboro.

It was mid-week and there wasn’t as many people as their should be — always bearing in mind that it is a
HUGE auditorium.

I am glad we went. You should try to make it next year.

Merry Christmas.

It was supposed to have been Saturday, December 14
— same day as Clearlakes Chorale.

But, then came the snow and storm.

Clearlakes went ahead on the Saturday.

Kingswood postponed. That is GOOD.

Those that had conflicts on Saturday can now GO.

Good deal.

Last year they gave a great concert.

Of course, by definition, it was good, fun, heart warming and rewarding.

Bravo.

But, there was NO BAND!

What Happened?

Kingswood … did you get the date mixed up?

Bobby Burns did you oversleep?

Geee! I love seeing that trailer with the band go by wondering whether any will fall off.

But, it was fun. Thanks, Wolfeboro. Next year I will bring a boom-box for some music.

Of course at the superb Kingswood Arts Center.

The Middle School Concert is two days earlier on Dec. 12.

We went to the High School concert last year and was blown away by how good it was.

This year, BUMMER, it clashes with the Clearlakes Chorale concert — and Devanee sings for Clearlakes.

Sorry Mr. Burns. You really should have checked dates.
