IF I Were A Rich Man I Would Have 2.5 Of These 7-Pound Burgers For Lunch, Each Day.

I have been poor for so long that I rarely think about what it would be like to be rich. But, when I read about this 7-pound, $75 burger, I really wished that I was RICH.

Because, IF I were a rich man, I would get 3 of these, every day, for lunch. I will give the buns and half of the third to the dogs, but will scoff down the 2.5 with relish (but without any relish). That would keep me going for a couple of hours. I might have to have some nuts to take the edge off.

The FEW of you who know me know I have a bottomless, gargantuan appetite; hence the constant battle with near-obesity.

Wow. The hot dogs is the kicker.

But, $75 each!

My budget for lunch is $1.50! Hence, the disconnect.

I am thinking whether I could possibly start a GoFundMe page.

Ah! To be rich.

In the meantime back to my 99 cent a package hot dogs.

$85, 10.5 lbs “Belly Of The Beast” Ginormous Burger Will NOT Feed 7 IF I Am One Of Them!

by Anura Guruge

I happened to see this article (see insert above) in today’s U.K. ‘Daily Mail‘ which I assiduously read, multiple times a day.

The claim that it can feed 7 people amused me MUCH! {Laugh} NOT, if I am one of them.

Anywho … the ‘Daily Mail‘, which was never noted for its veracity, got the ‘size’, i.e., weight, wrong by nearly 50%! YIKES.

Well, I went looking for the restaurant since I plan to visit it the next time I am in Vegas. It is 10.5 pounds, NOT 15 pounds.

Eating 2 pounds of meat, especially steak/burger, is child’s play to I. If it is going to me my main meal of the day I can tuck into 4 – 5 pounds of meat and still be slightly hungry!

I kid you not. My prodigious appetite, especially when it comes to meat, defies credulity. But, if you see me you would see it at once — that creeping obesity. I have to control myself. I could eat most of this burger, sans the bread, on my own and I would still have slight hunger pangs.

Well, I now want to go to Vegas. Usually I splurge on the all-you-can-eat buffets. But, this burger could make a decent breakfast.

It was a serendipitous discovery, on Saturday, September 9, 2017, and we are delighted. BEST restaurant we have eaten at over the last few weeks and we have eaten out quite a bit of late. It happened to be the 7th time we were eating out over the last 9 days.

The plan was to eat the restaurant at “Castle in the Clouds” after we meandered about. We had had lunch there in July and had really liked it. We got to the restaurant at 4pm to find that it was CLOSED and that it is only open till 3:30pm — even on weekends in the Summer. Poor show and I have e-mailed the Castle to express my dissatisfaction.

I remembered that there was a restaurant on Rte 109, on the left, not far from ‘the junction’. That is how we ended up at “Buckey’s“.

Initial reaction was a bit ‘mixed’. Deanna, who is not a big meat eater (as I am), was not impressed with their slogan “Where good friends Meat!” They really might want to rethink that given that they have a pretty varied menu. The stuffed Bobcat on the wall did not go down well at all, at all, with Teischan and I. Plus, there was a large table next to us that was rather loud with their inappropriate language.

But, the service and food won us over. We had a male served, Joe, of roughly the same vintage as I — which means he was no spring chicken. But, boy, was he good. Very impressed.

The quality of the food was a revelation. I tend to eat burgers, without a bun — since it fits in best with my diet. There “Big Buck Attack” with very good onion rings and huge side salad (for 50 cents) was amazing. So was the ‘Sampler’. Next time I will have to order two. It was gone in no time. Deanna had a Greek salad and had no complaints. I ordered a chocolate ‘bomb’ for Teischan and she was MOST impressed.

Very decent pricing. Wine by the glass is served in two sizes. 5oz and 8oz. I like that.

Yes, we will be going back.

Very impressed. Very happy.

‘Portland Pie Co’ (Manchester, NH) — Do NOT Bother Unless You Just Want Pizza.

by Anura Guruge

Riverdance — 20th Anniversary Tour‘, at the SNHU Arena, on June 7, 2017, was at 8pm. We decided to get there early to get some good parking and have dinner before the show.

Since the ‘Portland Pie Co.‘ was just a block away we decided to go there. We had been there, once before, a couple of years ago, with all four kids and it had been ‘OK’.

There was a 20-minute wait, though all the tables were not taken. I think it had to do with staffing.

It is nice enough inside and the house red wine is pretty damn good.

I ordered the ‘Fryeburg Fair Cheeseburger‘ without any bread and opted to UPGRADE with a fruit salad.

The two-patty cheeseburger sans a bun was pathetic. Emaciated and anemic. The burger patties at McDonald’s are twice as thick and ten times more flavorful. NOT IMPRESSED. It was insipid and unappetizing.

The fruit salad was a total bloody JOKE. 9 slices of apple, one grape and a sliver of peach. That was it. 98% apple. I couldn’t believe it.

Deanna had the ‘Steak and Bleu Salad‘ and was not enthused by the salad part!

Devanee had a pizza and that was fine.

Teischan had the ‘Nacho Grande‘ appetizer with the $3.00 beef burger upgrade. A lot of Nachos but, at best, there was probably half of a burger of meat.

“Poor People’s Pub”, Wakefield (NH) — 43rd Birthday Bash. April 29, 2017.

It was a BLAST!

A true birthday bash with infectious bonhomie infused in the air.

So glad that I went — and I have to thank my friend, Mal Stirt, of Wolfeboro, for insisting that I do.

It my first time to Wakefield, let alone this delightful Pub!

I have driven on Rte 16 through Wakefield, so to speak, but I had never stopped or done anything in Wakefield until today. That is going to change.

As ever I lucked out in getting to spend some real special time with Jimbo Keating the co-founder and the iconic hobo’s alter-ego. That was a treat. He, however, did warn me that they are ‘packed’ right through the Summer and that there typically will be a 20 – 30 minute wait. Good to know.

The food was good. We only ordered one 43 cent burger! Given the crowds and rush it was a bit of a wait to get the food BUT it was OK.

I had a real fun time. Loved it. Loved the ‘Shake It‘ and ‘Wipe It‘ signs. Made my DAY!

Thank YOU, Mal.
