Naked Charity Calendar For 2021 — Check Out, Cambridge University (U.K) “Blues Naked”.

by Anura Guruge

Click this image to see MORE pictures & order a calendar or TWO. Remember it is for charity.

I got an e-mail from them — given that I am a past customer. SMILE.

Most welcome, since I had been wondering which NUDE charity calendar I should promote this year. Always GLAD to plug the Cambridge “Blues“.

The “Blues”, in the context of Cambridge, has a different connotation to what many of you might be used. “Blues” refers to making an elite sporting team at Cambridge. So, what you are seeing as you can see from the poses & props, are their top-notch athletes in peak shape. Got that.

Enjoy. SMILE. Cheers.

The Last Time ‘Leap Day’, i.e., February 29, Fell On A Saturday Was 1992; Last ‘Leap Day’ Was In 2016.

How exciting. Another ‘Leap Day‘. At best, if we are lucky, we get them every 4-years. But, as you can see above, they will not get a ‘Leap Day‘ in 2100. Some of YOU might be around for that. Not that far ahead.

Last ‘Leap Day’, obviously, was 4-years ago, to the DAY, in 2016.

Got to go back a fair ways to find when the last ‘Leap Day’ was on a Saturday. Wow. 1992. I remember 1992. My son was born in May of that year.

‘Black Moon’ Today, July 31, 2019, & How It Differs From A ‘Blue Moon’.

by Anura Guruge

The Key Difference:

Black Moon has to be a NEW Moon.

Blue Moon has to a FULL Moon.

Other than that they both refer to an ‘EXTRA’ moon in a given ‘month’.

Blue Moon‘ can mean one of two things:

1. Second full moon within the same calendar month.

2. Third full moon during an astronomical season that has four full moons; an astronomical season in this context being the 3-month period between an equinox and a solstice, e.g., 3-months between the March Spring Equinox and the June Summer Solstice.

Black Moon‘, DITTO, but when it applies to a NEW MOON.

So, it means:

1. Second NEW moon within the same calendar month — as is the case this month, i.e., July 2019.

2. Third NEW moon during an astronomical season that has four full moons; an astronomical season in this context being the 3-month period between an equinox and a solstice, e.g., 3-months between the March Spring Equinox and the June Summer Solstice.

Both are rare events.

Furthermore, today’s Black Moon is a Supermoon — i.e., it is closer to Earth than normal.

2018’s Featured U.K. Nude Charity Calendar Is The ‘Hitchin Rugby Club Ladies’.

Quite a few, very well produced, U.K. nude charity calendars for 2018 — male, female and combined. I will try and share a few more with you.

For my catholic tastes this, the ‘Hitchin Rugby Club Ladies’ calendar, was the most appealing — partly because I am rather partial to rugby. Not a coincidence that in 2015 I also picked another rugby team — the Oxford University Women’s. But, in addition, some great pictures of these rugby playing ladies from Hitchin, and WOW — these ladies are toned.

I am not getting any calendars this year — after doing so for the last few years. The novelty has kind of gone, I think. However, I still like to check what is out there.

Chanukah (Hanukkah) 2016 Will Begin (With First Candle) At Sundown On December 24th — Christmas Eve.

by Anura Guruge

Yes, it is definite.

First first Menorah candle will be lit the evening of December 24, 2016 — Christmas Eve.

[First full day of Chanukah (Hanukkah) 2016 will be Christmas Day — but that is Day #2 in terms of Menorah candles.]

Refer to this November 23, 2016 post for more background.

When Is Hanukkah (Chanukah) 2016 — December 24th or December 25th (Christmas)?

by Anura Guruge

It is the adjacency to Christmas that makes this rather important —
Hanukkah not falling on Christmas day that often.

You would think that there would be NO discrepancy.

But, there is. As you will see.

And yes, I understand that Jewish holidays start at sundown where a ‘day’, per the ‘European’ calendar/convention, starts at midnight. And with Hanukkah there is the ‘first day’ — though that is when the first candle is lit. So, it would not, and should not, be taken as the next day.

And we do have a definitive answer
(as of Friday, November 25, 2016) thanks to

Chani Benjaminson of Chabad.org (referenced below).

“The Jewish day begins the night before, so while the first day of Chanukkah 2016 will be on the 25th, the first night is the 24th and that’s when the first Menorah candle will be lit. See this handy calendar for more details:

Best wishes,

Chani Benjaminson
Chabad.org”

OK?

Time and Date” an accepted source for such information says
December 25, 2016.

chabad.org, that appears quite Jewish, says December 24!

Wikipedia concurs, with December 25 — i.e., Christmas. “Farmer’s Almanac” also says December 24!

Then there is this — “The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism“.
They sound like an outfit that would know this stuff. They claim December 25!

So, I am confused. I just wanted to research when it falls on Christmas. Thanks.

Last year as you must remember it was the memorable ‘Oxford University Women’s Rugby Team’ Nude Calendar.

Deanna is still using hers.

This year it is the competing British University — Cambridge.

And it is Unisex and there appears to be more men. I ALREADY ordered a copy for Deanna. See below.

Blues“: no, NOT the music.

And yes, the British media has already made all the jokes about “blue (orbs)“! Crude.

merch_cap_largeBlues” in this context is University ‘colors’ (or what they refer to as ‘Letters’ in the U.S.). It means that the person has represented Cambridge at one of the recognized sports. The term goes back to the “Blue Cap” one got when one was selected to play cricket for the elite Cambridge University cricket first XI.

Today, Monday, June 20, 2016, Summer Solstice Full Moon — IS V. SPECIAL; Last One Was In 1967, Next 2062.

by Anura Guruge

June202016fullmoon

A full moon the exact day of the Northern Hemisphere Summer Solstice (June 20 to June 22) does NOT happen as often as you think.

Calendars (as I talked about here) do repeat on somewhat of a cycle (typically 28 years). Phases of the moon recur too, on a cyclic basis, roughly on a 19-year basis — though it rather than being exact tends to ‘on or near the same calendar day’. And that is the rub (so to speak). ‘On or near’. That has meant that a Full Moon on the Solstice does not happen, like clockwork, every 19 years.

However, it is also NOT a once in a lifetime event for most of us. More like twice in a lifetime.

So enjoy.

“Ides of March” (March 15, 2016) — There Has Never Been A Google Doodle.

by Anura Guruge

ides2016b
ides2016c
ides2016a

I gather that there is a growing realization (thankfully) that IF not for good ol’ Shakespeare (whoever he or she may have been) ‘Ides of March‘ would never have gotten the recognition that it has got.

“Ides” just meant the middle of the month. ‘Ides of March’ — middle of March. That was it.

The early Roman calendar, c. 750 BCE, thought to be a lunar-based, had three fixed points for each month: Kalendae (Kalends), Nonae (Nones) &Idus (Ides).

Kalends (from which we got ‘calendar’) was the first day of the month.

Nones, thought to represent the half-moon, fell on the 5th or 7th of a month and was the 8th day BEFORE the ides!

Ides, thought to represent the full moon, fell on the 13th day of months with 29 days, and on the 15th day of months with 31 days, i.e., March, May, July & October.

Interesting that Google has never done a Doodle for the ‘Ides of March’. I guess they think of it as falling into the ‘taboo’ political arena. Plus it has an assassination — something that should not be glorified.
