Father’s Day 2020 — From My 14-Year Old Artist, Teischan (Named After ‘Titian’).

What can I say? First things she said was that this was ALL she could do this year because she was BUSY!

It is true that she is painting another wall. Yes, an entire wall. 4th one she is painting, IF I have it right. Might be 5th.

So, how can I complain. All I know is that Titian probably would not complain that I named her after him — & did so 3-months BEFORE she was born!

This one, I think, was from last week. We lose track. She makes so many. I think at last count there were over 45 hung up on the walls not counting the ones still waiting to be hung.

A Visually Mesmerizing Mandala.

Yes, of course, a Teischan (13) creation. She drew this, in a few hours, yesterday. She is done with homeschooling for the Summer and as such has more time on her hands for painting. So, this was the outcome. I took many pictures of it. None of them do it adequate justice.

Father’s Day 2019 — Teischan’s Hand Painted Present.

As with the Father’s Day card, what can I say?

Just makes my day.

Yes, I kind of knew I would get a painting. That is her thing. Her trademark. The mother and I get paintings for all the important holidays.

But, I do NOT take it for granted. It is always special.

Over the last few years we have got pleasantly & proudly accustomed to these hand painted cards from Teischan. Of late they all feature her trademark mandala’s — some more intricate than others. They are special and we sure are glad that she can create them at will. I wanted to share. Enjoy.

Mandala Valentine’s Day Card (2019) — By Teischan (12).

This was my Valentine’s Day card — created by her on the day while we were gone for an appointment. As with all her work — it is pretty amazing. She can now dash these off in no-time. The  blinking-beautiful Chinese umbrella, which she finished last week, however, remains her current masterpiece until she decides that she wants to surpass that.

Sri Lankan Archbishop Emeritus, Oswald Gomis’ 2017 Christmas Greetings.

arch_oswaldAs with posting the Catholic Press Photo, “Christmas Card,” posting Archbishop Oswald Gomis‘ Christmas card is an annual, honored and cherished privilege.

He has been a good and valued friend for many years.

He and my adoptive father were roughly contemporaneous and firm friends though on many issues related to religion they were on opposite sides. But, that was the beauty and magic of WHAT WAS Ceylon in the 1950s and 1960s. Folks were still friends, relatives and neighbors irrespective of religion.

Father Gomis is a wonderful human being. And to I, that is all that matters. He is now 85-years old.

Enjoy.

Thank YOU.

Merry Christmas.

Over the last few years he has been using the ‘+’ in front of his name.

That is not a plus sign. It is meant to be a CROSS. It is meant to connote a title assumed by clergy in the medieval times — that of a SINNER. So, the ‘+’ indicates that the Archbishop is signing himself, out of HUMILITY, as a ‘sinner’.
