Sure glad we went for this ‘Open House’ on Saturday. We had seen it on Facebook — on a homeschooling related page. Inexplicably, this was our first time visiting this ENCHANTED place though we drive by it at least two to three times a month, and have been doing so for over ten years! I don’t know. I guess we kind of assumed it was a private school. Well we now know differently and hope to make it a regular destination. The plan is to get Teischan, the artist, to take some classes there. But, right now, her artist’s temperament does not seem conducive. But, that is a different matter.

A wonderful place with super talented and extremely friendly folk. A real oasis of art. The ‘Mansion’ is an architectural and artistic treasure and brought to mind ‘Castle in the Clouds‘. I will do a separate post on the Mansion — given that I have some great pictures.

They were offering complimentary classes and Teischan and Deanna took one on painting with acrylics. It was very good. I was impressed. I just took pictures. I think my painting days are long gone.

They had done a real nice job for the Open House. They had gone all out. Their enthusiasm was infectious. I could have easily spent another couple of hours there — camera in hand — but it Teischan wanted lunch. I will be going back.

Highly recommended. If you have not been, swing by. You will be glad you did.

Wolfeboro Adult Education — Another Proposed Spring 2018 Class, “Laziness Should Know No Bounds”.

by Anura Guruge

As with “Quick & Easy Meditation“, I, in my old age, am going about sharing some of my innermost secrets and ‘skills’ with you. Nobody better qualified to teach a class on ‘Being MORE Lazy’ than I. If the truth be known my middle name, all my life, should have been ‘lazy’ — Anura ‘lazy’ Guruge.

My adoptive father, always, maintained, with nary an exception, that I was lazy. He was, of course, as always, right. I have been lazy all my life. I think it is genetic (my REAL father supposed to have been a GAMBLER) though I have spent a lot of time and effort improving on my laziness so I can be even more lazy.

So, now I will share my secrets on how YOU TOO can be more lazy. Laziness knows NO bounds.

Meditation Is NOT Yoga, Yoga In Itself, Is NOT Meditation.

by Anura Guruge

It both amuses and disturbs me to see how folks in the West have complicated meditation. Meditation was never meant to be complicated. Complicating meditation defeats its whole purpose!

As some of you know I teach meditation classes every once in awhile. I have had folks tell me, at these classes, that they get stressed because so much emphasis has been put on ‘staying focused on one object’ and they are worried that they might NOT be able to do that. That is crazy. Nothing about meditation should be stressful.

This is why, I took the time, to write this “Quick & Easy Meditation” book, this Summer, though I was in the midst of writing a book dear to my heart (to do with THINKING) and already have a 300+ page book in my head about Buddhism.

Wolfeboro Adult Education: One Of The Better Pictures From The “Mobil Photography” Class Of September 26, 2017.

by Anura Guruge

It was taken with a Nikon D500 DSLR. They had to go to Concord to get that picture. It was bit of a hike and the light wasn’t optimal by the time they got there. It might have been better if they shot this Mobil station with a mobile phone. What do you think?

Wolfeboro Adult Education — Proposed Spring 2018 Class, “Leveraging Incompetence”.

by Anura Guruge

Appears that there is a demand for this — this being the Wolfeboro area. Appears incompetence big around there. I am always game. Maybe we will get the minimum requisite quorum of 2 for the class.

Per the requirements of Wolfeboro Adult Education any and all typos, apparent or not, may or may not be intentional. As always, as is invariably the case with Wolfeboro Adult Education, everything is meant to be a game.

The picturesque and historic Mobil gas station in Meredith will be featured.

Very creative and clever. Got to hand it to the Governor Wentworth folks. They come up with some amazing ideas. If you are going to shoot gas stations you can’t beat Mobil because of their Pegasus signs. I will try and see if I can get some pictures from this class to share with you.

I THINK the typos are meant to be a challenge to keep you engaged and engrossed while perusing the schedule. It is very clever. So, you should indulge and enjoy.

I also THINK that, per the spirit of such ‘find the typos challenge’, that YOU will get a discount if you point out one or more of the typos when making a registration. I would NOT think the typo has to be for that course per se. You will have to call 603-569-4361. Tell them you found a typo and you are claiming your discount. I THINK this is part of their efforts to also help you hone your negotiation skills — for FREE! Very clever.

As always, I do NOT know the details. I am only a hired-at-will instructor.

Well, at least you now have the official schedule and an INCENTIVE to read it carefully. Enjoy.

This, as far as I know, as yet, is the TENTATIVE schedule for Wolfeboro Adult Education for the Fall of 2107; i.e., October — November, 2017.

I am down to teach a ‘couple’ of classes — which is how I came to have this pre-release copy of the schedule.

So, this is just to give you a heads up, a chance to savor what is on tap.

I will UPDATE this with the FINAL schedule as soon as it is published.

This, IF anybody signs up for any of these classes (which is always a BIG ‘IF’), will be my 3rd round with them — I having started a year ago, Spring 2016.

Offering my “Web design” class (#7 in the program above) for the 3rd time. Not sure whether it will fly this time around. At least 19 people have attended the last two classes and that might be it for interest.

I split the “Brain Meditation” class I taught in October into two NEW classes: “Thinking: For The Sheer Fun Of It” (#1) and “Quick & Easy Meditation” (#3). Realized that folks want to learn about traditional meditation too. So that is what the new class will do: cover both conventional and brain meditation. The “Thinking” class, as the title states, is all about having FUN. I would LIKE that class to run BUT I am not holding my breath. Might be too cerebral. [Disclosure: I asked for it to be #1! What can I say.]

Publish Your Own Book For Free” (#13) is new. I have done it before, albeit at the Alton Library. Not sure IF anybody will sign up for it. C’est la vie.

Definitely NOT expecting all 4 classes to run. If they do, I will be teaching 4 nights, Monday – Thursday, the first week in April. ‘They’ were worried about that given my age. They, probably quite rightly, think that that might be too much for I.
